On a very few occasions I've had reason to hire a van. I wish they weren't so heavy on the juice, because not only are they super comfortable with their more upright driving position, but they're also immense fun to drive. But alas, commuting 300 miles per week means I have to put fuel economy quite far up my list of priorities.

Given the chance to drive a van or a car I think I know which I would pick.

Just turned gardeners world off, what a load of boring old tosh that is.
Its really gone downhill in my opinion hardly anything of interest.

Without a tv I haven't seen it in recent years Pete, but I never liked the programme anyway.

Re car seats:- I have always checked out how comfortable, or uncomfortable, the seats are. I have had a bad back for over 60 years and the comfort and seating position of the driver's seat is a priority. :blue thumb:

My little mustang has an electric driver's seat - no, I don't get electrocuted when I sit in it! But I can adjust the height, the tilt of the seat, the tilt of the back and all sorts of minute adjustments. The lumbar adjustments, to me, are most important. My dodge caravan is actually quite comfortable too because of it's height. It's almost like sitting on your kitchen chair. :)

I'm sitting here listening to motorbikes racing around a playing field about half a mile away.

They started up again today just up the road from me, 3 kids on bikes, no insurance no tax and no helmets as usual.

The place they are at is a few hundred yards from the Kent Police Headquarters, but the police do nothing until someone calls them, TBH I dont think anyone bothers anymore to call. The Police say they will crush the bikes of anyone caught doing this, but obviously they dont try to catch any of them.

They are as usual ripping up all the grass and stopping ordinary people from using the playing fields.
The local elections recently all candidates said they would clamp down on this kind of stuff, yeah of course they will.

Sadly this happens all the time, is there too much paperwork involved in what the Police deem small-fry.
Perhaps they can't be bothered as it would interfere with them eating their Big Mac's.

I've been reporting illegal vehicles on the road for over 4 year's (vehicles not reg with DVLA) the police have come out 3 times and the last time pc pod & vehicle miss one another by 2 minutes but still nowt is done, i've made thousands of calls about 12 vehicles not reg with DVLA and 4 vehicles with show/fake number plates some driving dangerously, but you do see police at church fates/ shows etc

Our two year old car had it's first service today. That wasn't a problem. But being charged £12 insurance as well as paying for any petrol used on a courtesy car is not on!

A few years ago they tried that on me. I told them that my own insurance covered me so I didn't need theirs and that as it is a courtesy car I'm not a hirer therefore not liable for the petrol or anything under insurance. They tried to argue but I asked to speak to the manager and when he came along I said he can either ask his company lawyer or I can go elsewhere and tell all my friends about it. They let me have it. :heehee:

They then said that they would need to inspect it when I returned it. I replied that it also shouldn't be necessary as I'm not hiring it but I will require them to inspect the car with me before I take it so that we can agree on any damages already on the car - and whilst they're at it, we shall both check my car for damages as well before I hand over my keys.

I'm not President of the Grumpy Old Men's Club for nothing!!! :loll:
