    I have won a battle with Royal Mail, to have any parcels delivered to my back door.
    The postman refused to deliver them there, saying their 'first port of call' had to be the front door where the letter box is ...
    Parcels don't fit through the letter box !

    I want them delivered to the back door. I don't spend my life sitting behind the front door waiting for someone to knock - I'm always in the back of the house or the garden or greenhouse, and never hear people knocking the front door.
    Also my two knees and right hip are painful so I'm a bit slow getting to the front door (if I actually hear someone knocking) and the postman doesn't have patience to wait.

    This battle of nonsense has been raging for several weeks, and now, in the end, I have had confirmation from Royal Mail customer services that they will in future deliver all parcels to the BACK door.
    So I am happy :smile::smile::smile:

          And a chap from the local sorting office just been here to inspect the side entrance and said there's no problem with delivering to the back door.

          AND I've just had delivery (by Hermes) of some lovely coloured Aeoniums which I've potted up ,

          AND AND they sent me a free one too !

              Have you convinced Hermes to use the back door as well?

              I usually put a note on the front door asking the deliverer to deliver to the back. Hermes have always done it, and everyone else also, except the postman.

                On our evening stroll today, we walked past a local bird sanctuary. You don't really get to see the birds because they're in a private enclosure but there are gaps in the fence so you sometimes catch a glimpse.

                As we walked past, we were greeted with a very screechy, 'hello'. It seems a gorgeous bright red parrot had seen us going past. Of course, basic manners and all, we all paused to say hello back to it.

                    I read in the news today that nationwide building society are giving out a hundred quid each to 'eligible' members. I thought, I wonder who is eligible because it didn't say in the news article. Then I got an email from nationwide. I am eligible. So I'm getting an unexpected free one hundred quid.

                      You have to have a current account. It can either be one of the paid for accounts or the normal one, but if it's the normal one you have to have had at least 500 quid go in three months in a row (eg salary) and at least two outbound payments (eg bills). In addition,if I understand it correctly, you also have to have either savings or a mortgage with them.

                      Basically, in a nutshell I think the test is if it looks like they're your main bank.
