    Hello @Sheal

If the Hole is larger than expected, I could always Half Fill the Hole with Soil from elsewhere in the Garden and then Top it Up using the Westland Top Soil.

Hopefully, it will not come to that but we shall see.

    Thanks

    Kevin

A good idea, something I've done in the past. :)

        Hello @Sheal

I am looking forward to getting the Tree Removed, kind of, hopefully things go smoothly especially the Post Removal Work.

        Another Question, if I may?

Of all the Plants I have in the Garden, the ones that confuse me more than any other regarding Pruning are the Lavenders.

What is the correct way to Prune Lavender and when is it done?

I have looked Online but what I have found is just confusing and inconsistent.

        Thanks

        Kevin

          Hi Kevin,

I'm here to help if I can. :)

Ah, Lavender. I'm no expert as the Lavender I had in the past was a dwarf variety and didn't need pruning. I believe that you shouldn't prune it back into the hard wood as it won't re-shoot. Because of this I've not bothered with it as it always seems to look tatty. Perhaps you should post your query in the main forum, someone else will be able to give you a better answer.

            Hello all

In preparation for having the Small Dwarf Weeping Cherry Removed from the Front Garden I thought I would Post a Photo of the Garden as it is Now.

            20230514_104036.jpg

The Tree is being removed on Friday.

I will Post another Photo once it is gone and the resulting Damage to the Lawn.

            Thanks

            Kevin

              Hello all

              Well, the Arborist has been.

They actually just Dug Out the Tree and cut out a couple of Large Roots so at least there was none of the Mess associated with Stump Grinding.

I removed a couple of leftover Roots that were close to the surface in the Hole, then filled in the Hole with the Topsoil I had leftover and Seeded.

I have Watered the Area and will keep it Moist.

This is how it looks now:

              20230519_113156.jpg

I am hoping that the Soil does not Settle too much, I did compact it and then lightly Raked the Surface so hopefully it will be fine.

If it does Settle then I will just Top Dress the Area to Level it out, after the Grass has Grown well.

              Thanks

              Kevin

                Hi Kevin,

That's a neat and tidy job. It helped that the stump didn't need grinding.

                  Hello @Sheal

                  Thanks for the Reply.

I have setup the Sprinkler to come on at 05:00 and 17:00 for 10 Minutes each Time so that should keep the Grass Seed Moist as the Front Garden faces North West.

Now, I just need to Wait, my favourite Pastime :wallbanging:

I have Cut the Lawn and I must admit, it was much easier not having to deal with the Tree, i still miss it though

                  Thanks

                  Kevin

                    Hi Kevin,

You have done a lot of waiting over the last couple of years so one to two weeks to see the grass appear should be easy. :)

It takes a while to get used to something new. I've had three trees removed from my garden, all between 25 and 50ft in height so they leave quite a gap. The bonus is they've let more light and sun into the garden and my living room.

                      Hello @Sheal

I think I should have taken Measurements as I am sure the Bare Patch is getting Smaller

                      This is the Area now:

                      20230524_183902.jpg

I think some of the Grasses present in the Lawn are Spreading into the Area :)

The Lawn has the following Grass Types present, some of which I know Spread:

                      Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass
                      Chewing Fescue
                      Creeping Red Fescue
                      Smooth Stalked Meadow-Grass
                      Brown Top Bent

Hopefully, the Grass Seed will Sprout soon.

                      All looking Good, thus far.

                      Kevin

                        Hi Kevin

Yes, some of the surrounding grass will spread but not enough to close the area. You should see the new grass sprouting within the next week. :)

I have been working on filling in a 4' x 20' area for about three weeks now and @Sheal is right. It is a game of patience. The first sowing took nearly 2 weeks to start and I've just sown some more in bare batches a couple of days ago. I wanted to wait and see if more areas would fill in on their own. They didn't so hence the last of my seed went down.

I'd set a timer on yourself. I had to do that . I keep a cheapie spiral notebook of "to do" items and each new day, I adjust the countdown. It helped a little with my expectations.

Tomorrow is "12 more days before grass seed might take" , day. For me this is a great coping tool. On a tangent here, the same lists have other tasks and if I don't get it done today, I put an arrow through it pointing to the page overleaf going forward and add the item to that next day's to do list. And it helps me manage my pace.

Yes, I'm A type but at least I try to keep it contained to only myself :)

                            Hello all

                            Thanks for the Replies.

I have just been out in the Front Garden to check on progress and there are Tiny Green Shoots all over the Area :)

I will keep on with the Watering and see how it progresses.

@CanadianLori , Regarding your suggestions of Setting a Timer and Making a List, unfortunately, neither would work, for me

My Perception of Time is somewhat different to that of most, something I was only made aware of when I was Diagnosed as being Autistic.

Also, the only way I can keep Lists is Mentally, writing them down just does not work for me.

                            Thanks

                            Kevin

                              Hi Kevin

Now the seed has germinated the grass should grow fairly quickly, unless the temperature drops.
