    Hi!

We recently moved into a house south east England, elder tree in the garden was flowering for about 10 days and was white and smelt great, but now the leaves are rusty and the flower colour has gone brown.

I’m really not clued up with trees, and have been searching online for hours but I am none the wiser if this is just due to lack of rain, or if there is some disease.

    Any guidance is much appreciated!

    thank you,
    Rob

Maybe the flowers are just finished and the berries are forming.
Are you sure its Elder, looks almost like Sorbus to me.

Elder tends to be a shrub, both flowers and foliage have a distinctive smell. Leaves are broader and greener than yours .
In either case the flowers don't last that long and go brown and fall off.
