Hi, can anyone tell me if this is a weed or plant and what to do to take the best care of it (if plant or wildflower), i have marestail growing in the same area, so I didn’t know whether to get rid of them all or look after these, I am new to gardening, so any help appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for the reply and welcome, really appreciate it. I thought they resembled creeping speedwell or Veronica when looking it up, but the double “fried egg” in the middle made me think they were something different.

@Peter Dooley Welcome to the forums.

It is Cymbalaria muralis... common name called ivy-leaved toadflax or Kenilworth ivy.

Ah, thank you, I believe you are right, so glad it is not a weed because I like how it looks on the borders. Thank you for your help. And thank you to previous poster too (I thought the same as you)

I'd get rid of the mare's tail.
The toadflax is a wild flower, it grows everywhere on walls around here and can be very pretty.

Mares tail....had it in our previous garden.
We went down many feet to try and dig it out.
We tried to kill it with chemicals.
              Nothing worked.
In the end we just had to learn to live with it.

              Be careful of common names!
Toadflax ...Linaria vulgaris, is a completely different plant to ivy leaved toadflax....Cymbalaria muralis.

Looks vaguely like Physalis, I only know the edible kind, Cape gooseberry, it looks similar to how it comes up in spring from old roots.
