In their latest stupid antics, just stop oil protesters have vandalised an exhibit at the Chelsea flower show.

Chelsea Flower Show: Just Stop Oil protesters arrested

I'm all for freedom of speech and freedom of expression to an extent when it doesn't cross the line, but this organisation should be banned. Perhaps the government could using existing powers to ban them as an extremist organisation.

I don't know what's wrong with them. Not so many years ago they'd have been locked away in an asylum for some of the things they do.

Like a lot of people, I actually agree with their stated cause, but they way they're going about it, they're doing more harm to that cause because people will just start to associate anyone that sensibly and with moderation supports their cause as a criminal loony.

I mean, what did they think they'd achieve by vandalising a garden that someone probably spent thousands on? If they wanted to make a statement at a flower show surely they'd have done better to hire a top designer to get their own exhibit there, but no. People might have actually looked and asked questions with an open mind. But no, they chose to make even more people hate them by causing more pointless disruption and ruining someone's hard work.

    Rant over for now.

If they were serious they would protest at and around Parliament and even have a go at MPs, but just upsetting the public is pointless, who in government really cares if the Chelsea flower show gets disrupted, no one, but stop MPs getting to Parliament or cause trouble in the buildings of government and they would get the message.

Truth is if they did that they know they would be clamped down on hard, as long as its just normal people being upset nothing will be done about them.

This is not freedom of speech, we lost that years ago anyway.
Also its not a peaceful protest, its just criminal damage and should be treated as such.

Whilst I sympathise with the idea that we must do something to bring about a change to save a planet that is clearly unwell, I don't support their methods, they should be getting the general public on board, with them and voting for a change. I have an uneasy feeling this group along with striking, nurses, doctors and others are being infiltrated and possibly led by anarchists who have a different agenda.

I think the Chelsea Show Garden was vastly improved by the orange paint.

Interesting parents you have! :heehee:

In my day the marches and protests were peaceful. I was on the Aldermarston March :blue thumb: (was marching in 1959). They also didn't achieve a great deal :noidea: but didn't do much in the way of harm to people or their livelihoods. They did get a lot of public support which did achieve some results.
