Sweet Pea Roots

I've read that Sweet Peas have lots of roots. I have a pot in an ideal position in front of a drain pipe complete with supports and three brand new plants. The pot is 26cm diameter x 26 cm deep, is it big enough to cope with three plants? TIA

 

I would say that they will grow and produce flowers, but will never reach their potential.

 

Agree with @Freddy but worth a try.

If you add some good rich compost to the pot and feed and water them very regularly they should give a decent display.
They are classed as Gross feeders so as well as good compost to start with you will need something like Tomato feed to keep them going once in flower.
Important you remove any fading flowers and any seed pods you spot as once they sense the seed pods have set they will die off, as will lack of water.
Some folk remove all flowers on a weekly basis as it encourages new and better flowers to form.

Are yours the typical 6ft tall type or one of the smaller patio/basket types ?

Hi Ricky. Thank you for the tips. The labels states 1.5 metres so appx 5 foot. Will that make a difference to the outcome? Thank you again.

 

Should be fine, always worth a try.

Even when planted direct into the garden find Sweet Peas can go over well before Autumn so try and have something else you can then put into that pot so you have a continuation of colour.
A Dahlia would do well until the first frosts, very easy from seeds even now or take a cutting some an established plant, various heights from 12" to 4ft.
