What I lack in stamina I make up for with brains and ruthlessness. I'll build many sand castles and keep them at bay by hosing them down with water until I'm well ahead ;-)

Another question. There are these shrub type woody stubs all over the place. I'm teased out over 100 but there may be another 100 in there approx. I've hurt my hand ripping them out with brute force after mini picking around them and then washing water down around the spot.

Perhaps many are dead and I should leave to rot? Or do I need to get them out? Another option perhaps gingerly dig around and then lopper them 2 or 3 inches below ground level. Dunno.

Could be brambles, difficult to guess. I'd leave them be if they are dead.

If they're a trip hazard or could cause injury if someone falls on them then you have to get them out. If they pose no risk I'd leave them and see if they sprout new growth then you'll have a better idea what you're dealing with.

I've decided to sledge them into the ground. If they are alive they'll send new shoots and I'll deal with them as I need. If they are dead, they are dead and they'll rot away under ground.

Day 20. I did add a small box of seeds more and 100 litres of compost to the worst areas approx 5 days ago. £17 I figured it's a small price to pay if it doesn't improve things.

I often think of the expression.. "Wanna hear God laugh? Make some plans"

Well, without exaggeration I estimate we've had a grand total of 2 hours rain day and night in over a months since I seeded that grass lol.

Given up watering it now 2 to 3 times a day. Haven't got the time. It's 50/50 weeds, clover and grass now for some reason but it is green... I just water at 8pm once per day thoroughly to keep it alive.... barely 20230607_183743.jpg

It will be difficult to eradicate the weeds completely, as seed can lie in the ground for years before germinating. Preparation of the ground will have disturbed them and watering of course, helps them grow.
