When they were racing at Le Mans, the speed differential on the Mulsanne Straight, between the Fords (and Ferraris) and the slowest car in the field was in excess of 100 mph. Imagine, in your MGB GT, flat out and hanging on for grim death and these babies blast past you as if you were stopped!

According to Statista, the ownership of a BEV by age group in the UK as of the end of 2021 is.

        18-24: 6%
        25-34: 15%
        35-44: 17%
        45-54: 17%
        55-64: 20%
        65+: 24%

In general the younger population would consider a BEV more than the middle aged plus, affordability being the main reason why they can't.

In the US the pattern is very similar, but broken down by gender, salary and colour.

75% of individuals who purchase a BEV are men
The 55+ age group accounts for 54% sales of a BEV
Those earning $100,000 plus salary account for 57% sales of a BEV
87% of BEV owners in the US are white.

The younger generation have less disposable income due to a number of factors, raising children, higher insurance, mortgage etc etc, which explains the ownership of a BEV being lower.

I agree with you Pete. For me it was more about the speed that they can travel now at TT. The technology has progressed very quickly since the first year when the bikes were introduced into racing. They will never match the other bikes, there's nothing better than the sound that comes from a motorcycle with a petrol engine.

The performance is good, but without the right kind of noise it doesn't seem the same.

You can not have motor sport without the noise. I go to watch speedway, Workington Comets and they are 500cc bikes that are capable of 0-60 in 3 seconds and can reach a speed of 80mph and no brakes. It is not just the noise but also the smell, they run on pure methanol and when they backfire it can make you jump if your close to one of the bikes.

Good idea, but looks more like a mushroom.

A lot of space will be needed for the trees/mushrooms if each canopy measures 7 metres.

Had they consumed some magic mushrooms when they came up with this concept.
So each mushroom is capable of charging a 50 kWh battery from 20% to 80% in nearly 7 hours.

If they start putting these in shopping mall carparks I am never going to go electric, my Mrs would see it as the perfect excuse to drag me around the shops for seven hours. :gaah:

Even with £3000 off the price, I still wouldn't pay £25,000 for a pasty warmer, nor would many others. My apologies to anyone that owns a Fiat for the description.

I see VW is bringing back the Microbus style van. An electric model. Wonder what that price tag will be! :hate-shocked:
