WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY 2023

I bought a small one of those last year, i planted it and a fox dug it up, I didn't notice for a couple of days.
So replanted it and it got every leaf eaten by snails, then the fox had another go at it and dug a big hole right into the root ball.
I'd given up on it, but it's started to grow now so they must be pretty resilient, maybe yours was coming to the end, I don't know how long they live in captivity.

 

It's hot today, staying in the shade with my Tiger

Nothing today it's too hot to plant anything, but probably in the morning.

Not in the garden but busy as usual. Now aged 75 I've very reluctantly decided to sell some of my large machinery the metal cutting bandsaw already sold.

If anything untoward happened to me all my machines would be a big liability to my lovely wife who hasn't a clue as to what they are other than seeing what I've made with them.

This morning I've been cleaning my very rare Lorch Schmidt German precision lathe it being an expensive lathe which I fully restored years ago and later converted it to Poly-V variable speed drive via a VFD. It's now a unique lathe and desirable.


Now variable speed all I need to do to change speed is to adjust a remote potentiometer control.

Here's the Lorch it's a beauty.

Not on topic for gardening but it sure is when I've been restoring garden machinery.

I'll be sad indeed to part with it but I'm not Peter Pan.

Busy few days in the garden still waiting for some rain lawn starting to go brown I were going to replace / redo the lawn anyway in autumn .

Been doing my summer pots done most of the big pots just need to add a few fillers , popped to the GC this morning for some fillers just a tray of mimulus was to be had .

Had some more plants arrive as well , I were just getting a couple of salvia love and wishes and 2 geranium macrozhhium for a clients of mine, that was obviously a dangerous game buy other people plants and not myself I did got well far more than intended a few salvias - amino / love and wishes / ember wishes / patens beyond blue and a anemonopsis and Geum petticoats peach . Didn't want to put these in the Show Us your purchase thread I don't want it to be - Perki shows you his purchases everyone will start think I am a millionaire at this rate defiantly not .

I split the geranium Macrozirrhium two pots of 1.5L I got 43 plants out of them if they all take . They are not for me they are for a client but the cost of 30 plants would of run up to £200 so a very nice saving for him.

Planted some cauliflower, dug over strip where the brassicas were last year, very hard and very dry.
Watered.

 

Mostly watering pots and sitting around wasting my time.
i seem to get most things done without doing anything definite.

 

Please put this in the non-gardening section.
I am 75 also and am not interested in your expensive hobby tools you do not want any more. Thank you.
