I have never had one of these loyalty cards and I probably never will. Only last week, Tesco have been reported to the competition watchdog for failing to display the unit price on club card offers.

Tesco reported to competition watchdog by consumer group over pricing concerns | Reuters

Since my daughter started Uni back in September I have be more observant about doing a food shop as an individual, it's expensive. Many of these bulk buy offers maybe ideal for those feeding a family, but for those who live alone and on a minimum wage seem to be penalised. A couple of prime examples, in pound land a single tin of Heinz baked beans is £1.40 yet for 4 tins it cost's £3.25. In Home Bargains, they have all Heinz tinned products at £1.80 or 3 for £5.

Not so much a moan but a solution. Trying to get a one on one appointment with a GP is pretty much the same odds as winning the lottery for some.

So, my solution. All GP receptionist are re-employed as border staff, which in return, they will take up the GP receptionists position. This way, everyone gets to see a GP and no one gets into the UK, two birds with one stone.

They're now saying a lot of the fires are caused by Eco Terrorists - trying to push climate change agenda...

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith hinted in a recent radio interview that arsonists were behind the province’s unprecedented fire season. “We are bringing in arson investigators from outside the province,” she said, adding that Alberta has “almost 175 fires with no known cause at the moment.”

Maxime Bernier, leader of the People’s Party of Canada, pointed to several recent arrests of wildfire arsonists, adding that the “lying woke media and politicians keep repeating that global warming is the cause.”

And several social media posts have gone viral with satellite video showing nearly a dozen Quebec wildfires erupting on June 1 at virtually the same time, with the implication that it is evidence of human coordination.

I wouldn't be surprised, there are some really strange dangerous people out there doing stupid things in the name of saving the planet.

              'eco terrorists'?

That's an interesting term. I wonder who coined that phrase, and what they might gain from it.

I wonder if these eco terrorists are all from one group all over the world, or lots of little groups that coincidentally spawned around the same time independently in multiple locations. If such an organised group does exist, I wonder how come multiple governments have all collectively failed to identify them. And I wonder if these eco terrorists are also responsible for the increase in frequency of extreme weather events we're seeing all over the world, borne out by reliable data from many sources. I presume all the fires the eco terrorists are starting is the reason why the data regularly shows a new record has been broken for the hottest year on average or the hottest month or a new highest temperature ever recorded in a certain location.

Sorry, I'm not advocating an argument for there being eco terrorrists but that argument seems to be conflating the two topics as creating a single causative effect as opposed to two separate but possibly related results.

Hello its started 3 days of warm weather and;)

Residents, businesses and schools in areas of Tunbridge Wells and other parts of Kent have woken up to no water or low pressure this morning (June 14). St James Primary School in Tunbridge Wells has had to close today due to no supply.

There is one bottled water station at Headcorn Aerodrome but South East Water said more stations will be added. South East Water has said it is because of a burst main and engineers are trying to fix it.

But it has also blamed higher demand due to the hot weather, which is "currently higher than the amount we can treat and supply", said South East Water. Supply was hit from about 2.30am today. Areas affected include Hawkenbury, the Camden Park area, Ferndale, Halls Hole Road, Bayhall Road and Claremont Road. Further south, a huge area is affected including Frant Road, Bayham Road, Broadwater Down, Hawkenbury Road and Benhall Mill Road.

I wonder if they ever get around to explaining what caused the burst main. I can understand it if there is excessive rainfall but in a dry spell I would be inclined to put it down to poor, or no, mainteneance.

But being a totally non technical person, I have absolutely no idea.

No mention that thousands and thousands of new houses have been added to the original mains in many places.
It's all the same thing, no new roads no new doctors etc.
But building houses brings in council tax, roads and doctors and water mains cost money.

As for pumping sewage into the rivers, I blame the Victorians they built the system.

But it's happening more and more, it was a rare thing years ago but soon as we get warm weather the treatment plants can't keep up with demand, and I just wonder if they are putting higher pressure through old cast iron mains causing them to burst.

Steady pressure is ok is when you get low pressure then high pressure when you get lots of people turn on the taps dead on 8am off 8.01am, soil around pipe will have dry out so there will be a cap between pipe and soil if there is a weak part of pipe then that soden low high pressure is when pipe may bust

Paul Whitehouse, Steve Coogan and Lee Mack were at lake Windermere last Bank Holiday. They had joined campaigners regarding the poor water quality of the lake and how much sewage is being pumped in to the lake. Apparently, since the privatisation of the water companies, they have paid out £72bn in investors dividends.

Before they were privatised there was proposals to build a number of new public water supplies. Since 1980 I think there has only been one new reservoir built, which was Carsington in the early 90's. The UK population has probably grew by over 10 million since then , so a lack of investment in the infrastructure has to be taken in to account, instead of it's all down to climate change.

According to the some of these fishery commissions, some of the rivers are being choked, with one of the main reasons being, to much water is being diverted for hydro power.
