Hi. My reel is similar to the one in the picture. The circled bit screws off and inside is not an O-ring but more like a washer. Mine is pretty mangled so needs to be replaced but I'm not confident of getting it in the 'Hozelock O-ring kit'. The contents look promising but on the reverse is just the mains tap and the hose spout which suggests there's no washer for the reel connector.

Can anyone confirm where I'll get the washer I need? Many thanks indeed. hose reel.jpg

That looks like a standard screw on adapter for outside taps. I would take the existing connector to a diy store and compare. The new connector will have its own washer. Asda do a range of affordable hose connectors or try wilkos.

Thanks. Yes, clanless, I also thought a standard screw on adapter for an outside tap would fit the bill but the one I bought didn't fit despite being either half or threequarter inch. Looks like the hozelock may be 5/8. And it looks (thanks, infradig) like I'll still be buying the whole connector. All for want of a wee washer. Nothing's simple these days...

Could you cut one from a piece of rubber sheet, such as the top of an old welly?
Alternatively, have a look at these:

Cor 7 quid for a connector. Some ptfe plumbers tape on the thread would also make water tight. At least if you get a reel it will come in handy for other things. Hozelock supposed to be universal connectors, smacks of rip off to me.

Thanks all. I'll buy the connector from ebay (fiver). The ptfe suggestion is interesting but I've read that it shouldn't be used on plastic.

I once replaced the hose-end bits with brass ones - slowed the flow so much it was unusable. Granted, they weren't genuine Hozelock parts but still...
Meantime, I've taken the washer from the non-fitting outside tap adapter I bought (see above) and forced it into my current connector. So far, so good.

The bore must have been seriously compromised. Mine were not Hozelock either but I get full flow to my 50M hose.
