Anyone else on Virgin E mail, I cant get a thing since Sunday, all I get is some stupid page telling me to log in or change password.
It half came back this morning with e mail titles only but the messages were not there, now that's gone again as well.

I kind of get the feeling its quite wide spread but I cant seem to get any real info from Virgin.
I know I will be dumping Virgin E mail after this lot, but I get the feeling that's probably what they want their customers to do.

I had the problems with my Virgin mobile, could never get to talk to anyone, well apart from someone in India:frown:
My internet is BT and I use Gmail, no problems so far.

Mines blueyonder @wiseowl , its kind of half working now as I can actually read the e mail from Virgin telling me the problem but all my other e mails have disappeared.

I've never known anything like this before, I've got a gmail account and will, if this mess ever gets sorted, slowly move over to that, its a total disaster and I'm not a heavy user.
Some people must have pulled all their hair out by now.

Yes we had a problem for the last couple of days, kept asking me to log in to get emails. Then I tried the Virgin Status checker and that was unavailable. Eventually it did work and it said there is a problem with broadband and TV in the area and an engineer is fixing it. It's still iffy today. I thought it meant my local area but maybe it's across the south east.

Thanks John, I get the impression Virgin have lost the plot, even my mobile is now being run by O2, I wouldn't be surprised if they just fade away.

Was with Virgin for many years and their Email system was very poor with outages of several days not uncommon.

Would agree you should migrate all your email over to your Gmail Account a.s.a.p.
Better to use two or more gmail accounts, say one for private things like Banking , one for Forums etc and one for friends and family.
If you use a free Email Client like Thunderbird it will handle several email accounts at the same time and also handle the log in passwords automatically.
You can still log in directly the Gmail in needed.

I've never understood e mail clients, I've always just gone to the site directly.
When I first started out I was steered into using outlook but it was a nightmare.
Tbh, this is the first real problem regarding e mail that I have had with virgin, but I will be using gmail more in the future.

Email clients are just programs that will get and send emails from any of the main email providers like Gmail.
In your case you could tell it to get your mail from Virgin and Gmail all at the same time.

Normally you would tell it to save the passwords so it automatically logs on to those accounts for you, though if you are super cautious say for a banking email account you can tell it not save the password and you then enter each time you use it.

Nothing to stop you trying Thunderbird as your emails are retained as normal by the providers , but when setting up Thunderbird you need to check its set for IMAP.

Even when using Thunderbird, you can still access your Virgin or Gmail accounts in the same way as before .

Used it for years, save countless logging ons with passwords etc.

Have a try for nothing, just delete it if not your thing.

Tried it @ricky101 , although its "free" it keeps wanting £15.
I dont think it is any help for me I only have two email addresses and the browser remembers the log in details.
Just another person with my log in details to be honest. Not that I'm overly bothered but it just seems like unnecessary.:dunno::biggrin:

Thurderbird like Firefox is whats called Open Source where the program is not created / owned by a particular company, more like a club, and they just want to ask for donations towards running costs etc.

All you had to do was click on the X in the top right hand of that screen to close it and continue with the download.
( that window is a new one to us and very surpised at the large amounts they show !!)

If you are happy with the browser method , no problem.
