The suckers (sideshoots) do grow fast, I sometimes miss them further down the stem. Just a couple of days ago I found a 2 foot one coming from just under the soil growing up alongside the main ste, its only because it had flowers I suddenly spotted it.

Azoychka, bloody butcher and banana krasnyi. Still a couple of more weeks before I'm eating any.

Also Barry's crazy cherry really does have a crazy number of flowers

          Hi
I have JUST joined the Forum as a newbie gardener and would really appreciate some help.
I want to grow tomatoes in a greenhouse but really have no idea where to begin

Welcome to the forum David. Have you already got a greenhouse with space? Is there a soil border or concrete, if the latter you will need grow bags or big containers.

It's not too late, you will be looking at buying plants to get going.

Thank you for replying so quickly JWK.
I have an empty greenhouse with solid borders.
I have tried to buy tomato plants from local garden centres but unfortunately they are all sold out so I'm at a bit of an impasse as to where to buy some

I'm surprised they are all sold out, at our allotment people are still swapping tomato plants. If you are on a local Facebook group you could search or ask on there.

I've seen tomato plants still for sale, some look in a bad state by now but tomatoes seem to be one of the plant that has amazing powers of recovery.
Sometimes, at this time of year, you see plants that have been potted on with fruit forming, for sale, but obviously quite expensive.

I saw tomato plants at Tescos last week, worth trawling your local supermarkets @David Starling try the bigger ones like Morrisons that do plants.

Thank you all. I shall try the supermarkets but will have to make a sneaky trip because if my wife accompanies me I'll come home with more than tomato plants :thud:

Does anyone use straight sulphate of potash to feed their tomatoes?
