Getting disheartened now. Too many of the nice things I put in are not thriving, and the only ones that look good are aubretia and lobelia. Two roses have failed to grow at all, honeysuckle is very slow and sparse, and two clematis are barely hanging on. Plus my 5ft tall pink things (forgot name) were wrecked last night by the heavy rain. Used to somehow cope with this - had my last garden for 30 years- but this time I just can't raise the ooomph to get things sorted. And the Med/Gravel garden out front now consists of 4 wee scrubby plants that look very "plonked". Son was supposed to do planters but no sign of that anytime soon. Fedup

I sympathise. Our garden is a disaster this year with shrubs doing poorly, a Clematis died over winter and our glorious Passion Flower is sparse with no sign of buds. And we didn't get the hot summer last year that the South did.

Don't be disheartened. I know it's disappointing and frustrating but you're working with different conditions to your last garden. It's likely there'll be some learning curve as you figure out what does well and what doesn't in the new conditions.

I bet every single member of this forum has had some bad luck with their garden at some point. If you've lost your mojo, don't beat yourself up. Just pick it back up when you're ready, and we'll all be here to help if we can.

Love you lot :blue thumb: I thought this one would be easy after 30 years 1000ft up on the moors. Hah.

We all feel like that at times each season and think is it all worth the bother, but we carry on.
