    Hello everyone,

I think I may have jinxed myself a few days ago when I posted that my aubergines were doing well, but over the last few days my previously strongest plant appears to have developed a problem.

The lower leaves suddenly wilted. I left them for a couple of days hoping they would recover, but then removed them when they didn't. Today I have noticed leaves further up are doing the same. See attached photos.

I don't think that I have under or overwatered it and I fear that it is verticillium wilt, but having never had an issue like this before I am not sure.

I have isolated the plant at the moment, but imagine I will need to dispose of it.

All of the other aubergines look fine at the moment. The specific variety was White Knight.

As always, any insights/knowledge will be much appreciated!

When I grew Aubergine Clara which was a white Aubergine I found that it was better if it was sprayed regularly with tepid water . Though I did this to prevent red spider mite.

It doesn't look happy. I suspect something going on in the compost, ants maybe?

There are lots of ants around - and some tried to build a nest in another aubergine plant. I will investigate!

I did recently repot it and added some newly purchased manure. I wonder if this could be a culprit too.

It could be the new manure, was it only that plant repotted? Was it fresh manure or well rotted?

No, I repotted a few others using the same manure, and so far they seem fine (it was commercially available manure, so assume well rotted).
I did also add some home made compost to some of the repotted plants - but foolishly didn't make a note of which plant got which compost.
That said, I've been using the home made compost from April/May, and no other problems.

Have just inspected for ants - and nothing. Will repot using standard compost and see what happens.

    You don't suspect verticillium wilt?

It could be, I've never had it but the symptoms do look like a fungal attack

Me neither. Completely out of my depth!

Well, it's repotted and in isolation again. Will see what happens over the next few days.

I know it may be a bit late for yours but i bought 2 aubergines from aB&Q store.. I'd only had them a couple of weeks when something had nibbled straight through the thin stem . Their were only a few leaves as they were only 2 inch tall.

I whatever the culprit was it left me a tiny spike of a half inch stem . I continued to water it same as the other.
The plant has made good progress and has produced a flower.

I did wonder if yours would improve if the growing tip was nipped out.

It's currently in isolation and now looking incredibly sorry for itself. Will give it to the end of the week, and then try as you suggest.
Shame we are not going to be having great weather this week.
