    Hi all.
After getting rid of the gravel from the front, I'm now looking to prep the area for seed.
Not sure what kind of soil it sat on - it's a bit clay-like, but not entirely, I don't think... anyway, I am thinking of topsoil and pre-seed fertiliser... is it okay to rotavate all of this together? Churn up the base, chuck on some topsoil and fertiliser, then rotavate it all together, rake and lay seed?
    Would that work?
Any and all advice gratefully received :D

Might be a better idea to get some organic matter rotovated into the base and then get it up to the level you want with top soil.

Sounds a good plan to me. Make sure you compact it well after rotavating. Walk on your heels on every bit and keep raking to level otherwise it will sink in places.

Organic matter... you mean sch... you know what...?
House backs onto a cow field - I could just pop in with my shovel and wheelbarrow... ;)

It will be okay to firm it down that much, yes?

Yes, you are removing air pockets.
