That will depend on when the car was first registered, cars 40 years and older do not need to have a valid MOT if there has been no major alterations to the body, chassis etc etc. Historical cars have to be taxed, but that does not necessarily mean you have to pay as the vehicle will be tax exempt.

 

Would love one of these with out the trailors, only fuel up once now and then you have your bed/kichten and all mod con's

I wonder why it had previous MOTs... yes, I know you can have a test done voluntarily. Old MOTs show a curious history. Never mind; it's not my car, and if it's OK, it's OK. Lots of info at Historic (classic) vehicles: MOT and vehicle tax. I had better polish up some of my old things...

It may have had a change of ownership. Some classic car owners get their cars MOT'd every year even though they don't need to. Others never do. I do not know if an MOT makes a difference to their insurance costs.
It didn't have an MOT in 2012.

 

I am someone who appreciates and knows American cars ... having got my license in two states there and owned cars for +/- 23 years. Plus my Father owned a race team and I spent weekends at race tracks.

 

As a point of interest. Vehicles registered on the Isle of Man do not have MOT's at all.

 

We also have a race car, its a Nova 1969, all converted. But he' s going to change it some (whenever) take out the racing gas tank, the nirto drip, and change to street tires. I don't think I have a picture of it.

 

My brother has made me really jealous. Yesterday he bought himself a BMW 330e Plug-in Hybrid. A simply gorgeous motor.

 

Don' t be jealous, mechanic friends tell me a BMW is always in the shop to fix something.
