Ah, there we go. Sorry. I messed up who I replied to. See my earlier response to @shiney , which was meant in response to you, but I'm clearly inept and replied to the wrong comment

So-calles nursing so-called "homes". It's time something was done about these instititions which in fact are hard-headed profit-making businesses. But, what? I don't know. I do know that I would hate to be in one, whether I knew it or not.

I worked in one of these homes for 15 years, I can honestly say all my staff treated the residents like their own Mum & Dads. I agree there are some very bad ones.

I've never worked in a care home but I know a few personally that have. They are the most compassionate people I know. I've seen them in tears when one of their residents has sadly passed. Of course that doesn't mean they're all like that. Unfortunately everywhere you look you'll inevitably find a minority of bad eggs.

My mother was in a care home for eight years (she decided she needed to go in because of her arthritis) and had a good time with lots of care. Families were treated with respect and were allowed to visit at all times. I quite often popped in to see mum at lunchtime and sat down to eat with the residents. I then helped with the washing up.

We became friendly with the staff and two of the workers had their daughter's wedding photos taken in our garden as the nearest registry office had lousy surroundings.

Gah! Driving home, sudden splitting headache mostly behind the left eye. Haven't had one of those for a fair while. Ibuprofen and a mug of cocoa and a sit-down.

Snap I have one too @Drahcir . I do get them fairly often, however I think this one was caused by being out in the garden all day today in fairly strong winds.

I hope it eases up soon for you.

Maybe you should get it checked out, the behind the eye bit sounds like it needs looking into.
No pun intended, but maybe you need new glasses.

Ibuprofen is, I thought, an anti inflammatory.

Thank you. It's a lot better since a couple of headache pills. Dinner soon. Looking forward to that too.

I also hope your headache improves. Headaches are swine.

I occasionally have a bad headache, have had for years, although not as bad as when I was about 16, when the occasional stupefying migraine got going.

If in need, a couple of ibuprofen and a couple of paracetamol is OK (or two of each sort, alternating, at two hour intervals, for adults only, e.g. 12 o'clock two ibuprofen, 2 o'clock two paracetamol, 4 o'clock two ibuprofen...).

Yes, ibuprofen is anti-inflammatory, but a pain killer too. Not to be taken by people having "blood thinners".

New glasses? What? (!). I am due a visit to Specsavers or similar. I keep scratching glasses, little scratches from earth, metal filings, hot sparks occasionally, that sort of thing. I need some cheap frames and a supply of cheap lenses to go in them. I have never had any joy getting rid of the tiny scratches that appear on glasses at some time (soon in my case).

I use select specs, just pick out some cheapo ones for those you tend to abuse.
Send them your prescription and they are pretty good, better than the expensive worn out frames you get at specsavers.

I've given up with the front of the hedge. Can't plant anything under it as the roots are too dense - so mulched with some bark chippings. Looks nice for a day or so and then the birds get to work scattering it all over the gravel path. I've had enough hoovering up the bark chippings - so have just ordered a bulk bag of the path gravel and will use this as a mulch under the hedge. Don't care it the birds scatter the gravel onto the gravel path - you won't be able to tell.

My latest moan is a bit tongue in cheek as it's such a trivial annoyance but it bugs me more than it should.

On my phone, there is an app called Google Fit. Foolishly when I discovered it I was sufficiently impressed to start using it. Without needing to fiddle with it, once activated, it just sits there in the background monitoring how much exercise you're doing. Then towards the end of the day a notification pops up to tell you how many steps you've done today, and how man 'heart points' you've scored for doing slightly more high energy exercise. It great for helping to motivate you to move. But....

Whenever I do actual exercise, like playing tennis, going for a run, or martial arts practice, my phone stays in my bag at the side, not moving. So after working up a good sweat for an hour or so, it will later tell me, 'getting there, only 2000 steps and 9 heart points to go'. Thanks Google Fit. While you were resting in my bag I was actually doing stuff.

Just looking on line at PYO farms locally.
What has it come to, you have book tickets at some of them now, crazy.
                              Just too many people.
