There's a lot of activity on the nest this evening. Mother flew in with a small fish which the eldest of the young ones battled her for and won. Another baby left the nest and has now returned and the youngest of the brood is currently trying out it's wings. It won't be long before they all leave.

Is there such a bird as an Uncommon redshank, only I dont think I've seen one:biggrin:

I'm getting flocks of starlings descending with lots of young birds.

Not got any photos of birds but we quite frequently see Magpies very close to the balcony railings! There have been times I could have almost touched them! Less than a metre away from me. They can be very noisy birds as well!

I've got a very vocal pair of Jackdaws that attack the fat balls most mornings.
Its unusual because I've never seen jackdaws around here before.
Last years Jay, that was a new arrival has not been around for a couple of months now.

I've noticed a fair few seed eaters feeding on flowers and leaves on younger shoots.

Rare visit from a Greenfinch today along with the usual ones emptying the feeder.

Oh Upsy, neither of us are good with birds. I know we have Chiff Chaffs, Sparrows, Swallows, Collared Doves and I hear Little Owls in the night. I know there are more I cannot name. One sounds like a Penny Whistle. :heehee:

Oh, recently we had a pair if Azure-winged Magpies visit for a week. There are Hoop0es here too but not in our garden but some nested in our friends' garden.

While photographing honeybees gathering pollen from our coneflowers this strange looking fellow showed up. I have no idea of what it is, but it looks like it came from outer space.

It looks like a bee or maybe a wasp. Is that a 'sting' attached to it's rear?

Edit: I've just had a quick scout on the internet @hydrogardener and it could be one of many hover flies.

It doesn't look like anything unusual to me, lots of these kinds of flying insects around.
