    Morning all.

Warnings are on the news here regularly for the general public too. It just seems the British do not pay attention. The locals call them beef here. There is a warning on Euro News as I type specifically Italy and Spain ... "stay indoors, keep hydrated, especially the vulnerable".

All kinds of commotion in the orchards. hearing ladders. but don't know if they are picking oranges or pollarding.

J meeting Donald for lunch then stopping at the DIY on the way back for compost for me.

    Have a good one.

      Morning Vicky.

It's good to hear that your temps are back to the normal mid 20s, over here the concerns are for Italy and Sardinia ..could reach 48C this week.

      Beef!!!! Why..that's not very welcoming!!!
I dislike it when visitors from other countries are branded with silly demeaning names.....
Do the Portuguese not like the British?
We get weather warnings for all types of weather too, it's good to be prepared.

I'm so glad to be living here , I may grumble about the weather but at least we can carry on with our lives ,going out and visiting places with only a few adjustments made to our clothing.. :)

      Enjoy your day.xx

        Gosh, don't I wish!

The Portuguese are very fond of the British. Beef because a high number of holiday makers are bright red because they are not cautious in the sun. Sadly it tends to be mainly the British, unless they live here.

These high temps are not the normal and only occurs for a month or so with the remainder of the year being ideal for all activities ... and 10 out of 12 aint bad!

You have a good day too. I will be writing later. ;) xx

Actually, when I think of it, the British/English are probably the worse for calling other nationalties "demeaning" names ... wogs, waps, eyeties, Frogs, Pakis, Chinks and Yanks (derogatory if you are a Southerner) for example) for just a few.

Personally, I use none of these terms.

            Good day
It is 66f and feels a lot fresher. The guessers say that we will have high temperatures returning but I do believe that I have now become adjusted to it :)

@Victoria, now really- you left us "Canucks" out of it! :heehee:

I take Violet to her class this morning which marks the beginning of the second half of the course so only 2 weeks left. I'll probably go and do a little bit of shopping before I swing by their place to pick her up. I don't need much but they have a garden area at one shop and I believe this is the time when they are marking everything down to clear it out :fingers crossed:

            Cheers :coffee:

Think you need to go into that garden section and see what treat you can find.;)

Do you know Vicky I have just come back online and was going to say the same..not that we here are necessarily the worse though as every country has their own distasteful collection of names unfortunately.

Whoever and wherever they are said still doesn't alter my opinion on their usage. I don't even like the words Brits....or any nationals referred to by a shortened version of their nationality. That's me!!

Have fun at the GC Lori and don't resist temptation. ;)

                    Morning all, Monday again. 9:32AM.
Just took my car to get its yearly inspection. Storm blew in yesterday, cooler now . Task today to re-fresh paint a picnic table. We got the picnic table at an auction for Nothing$$$, ok--$5.00, in awesome solid shape, with two little side seats and two long ones. Got the same color, so going to roll it on. Its going down to the Airbnb mid August .

As a real redhead its a given I have to watch the sun, but flip side I love it when I get freckles, so its a timing thing, over the years I have got it down pat, for how many minutes etc. what type sun and where. When we are at a car show, which is so open I wear a wide brim hat always. We have a tent, and a chair set up with an umbrella attachement. Of course I have to sunscreen my legs and arms etc. Most good face creams have a number 15 in it. Fishing on the ocean always has to have some sun screen.

My cereus plant put out its first bloom late last night, it is beautiful and smells awesome. Not a good picture, has a yellow cast to it. If it opens again tonight, will bring up my spot light and redo the shots. It was a gift from a friend.

Question: Are you all called for Jury duty? I have been called 4 times in my life, served 2 times. And just called again for the court house all the way in Phily, got out of it, was 49 miles one way, and used my age also. The date was too close to our next trip, could not risk it.

                    Have a grand day all.

I am offering one of my favourite flowers, the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, of which I have six in the ground and six in pots. I love the delicate colour of this one.

Morning. It feels warm and muggy this morning at 22c, going to the mid 30s again later.

Nothing really going on today. J got the compost yesterday so I may repot a couple of plants this morning ... may, that is! I have no energy or oomph.

                          Good day
It is 64f and lovely and fresh. The guessers say there is a threat/promise of rain at some point each day. :)

@Upsydaisy I did not buy one thing for the garden. I got over there and they had cleared out the area. Not even a bag of compost was left. I also found out that their new wider aisles and cleaner looks in the grocery area also provided much higher prices. Obviously I won't be visiting there much in the future.

I love hibiscus @Victoria and that is such a pretty tone. When I finally "cured" the one I had last year, my granddaughter wanted it so off it went. I was a little sad but also glad that I had passed the test of getting rid of white flies. It showed me how to get rid of them and helped me with getting rid of those same pests bothering some of my chillies again this year.

                          Cheers :coffee:

                            Morning all, Tuesday, 8:43AM.
@Upsydaisy , picnic table and the seats all painted, 2nd coat, and late last night put in one of the garages till we travel with it to the Airbnb. When we set it up down there I'll take a picture of it. I take pictures of "all" aspects of the house for documentation. Been wanting to copy them all out for a "inventory" type book. Been working on other things to take down there, we are scheduled to go Aug. 19. One of the things I make sure I have plenty of when I leave there are the little "gift" bags that each guest gets at each turn over, well, actually each bathroom gets, and then a separate "type" of gift bag for the kitchen sink. I have boxes of both ready for the cleaners just to scope up and leave.
One thing awesome about 20 min. drive from me is a store called "The Restaurant Store", it has all sorts of supplies, items, that restaurants use, its wonderful prices, and large qualities can be had, for example, a box of 96 rolls of toilet paper for .70cents a roll. Huge boxes of paper towels, forgot that price. But, for the needs of the airbnb its awesome. They have these great sink sponges that really last. They also sell, what they call Bartenders towels, so good for countertops etc, sturdy . And learned something, they come in different stripe colors, so the restaurant can decide which color is for what to clean up. I plan to get back there just before we leave for the airbnb. Have a list.
                            Chess Club meeting again today.
                            Have a good day all.
