Hello. I planted some echinacea I bought from crocus in June but they’re not looking great. They’re on a southeast boarder . They were 9 cm pots. I put a bit of bone meal on the top but one has go be and he other 4 look like this

I've found them to be temperamental while getting established. As long as there's new growth, there's hope. Even the ones that don't seem to have survived might surprise you with a come-back. They seem to like more regular watering than you'd expect 'prairie' plants to need.

The only thing I can say is don't give up on it .A piece of my ( then) established one broke off last year so I just planted it in another border......it didn't look at all viable.
A year later and it's blooming...good job too as the old one died , it had been fading for the last couple of years so we weren't surprised by it's demise.

Keeping :fingers crossed: for you :).

Thank you. My garden centre has now got them in and so I went out yesterday and bought some bigger ones in the hope they might teach them what they’ve got to achieve!

I just wonder if it was the classic case of plants brought on under protection.
Often find when you buy stuff that has mostly come from Holland that they go backwards once planted out.
They even ship them to our garden centres in massive temperature controlled trailers and the plants are very soft.

They need to adjust is all. Regular watering and they'll be fine. Watch out for slugs on new growth but in a couple of year they be solid plants

My experience with these is not to expect them to flower in year one, they may but they are perennial; they need to get their roots well established to thrive. Of course garden centres wont volunteer this; why would they, they are all for instant!

a couple of them are attempting to send up a very ropy looking flower. I will nip it out so that they can concerntrate on sorting their roots out!

Ah, this might be the problem or at least a big part of it, haven't had good experiences with Crocus! There's a very useful old thread where many members named their favourite nurseries, I'll see if I can find it later when I have more time and link to it. :)

actually, the last things I had were not great either and they had to replace them.that would be great thank you. We've just had a hillier open up locally which is where I went and got some bigger ones but it does look more like a restaurant fancy cushions and scented candles shop than a nursery at the moment!
