    Some of my plants have hit the roof apex now so I guess I'll have to top them

      @Loofah you could lower them to the ground run them along and then back up another support.

        Mine are ready for lowering, I've picked the lowest truss and stripped off the leaves so that part of the stem can be laid on the soil.

          Something to consider for next year I think. They've been grown up the rafter and I'm not sure how I'd lower them without snapping stems

                I was thinking of doing something like that with mine, the Honeycomb that I have are rreally tasty but I wouldn't say they are a massive cropper so was thinking of tryIng to get more out of the plants being I dont have much height.
                Should have thought of this before I pulled off all those side-shoots.

                  As I expect you may prefer not raising the roof (could of been done earlier!), train them across and along the other side.....

                      My wife, THE GARDENER listened to the same programme! I've known of the method for some time, but she also said that the grower talked of very many varieties (over 100) to choose from so perhaps he's on this site!!!

                        My tomatoes are not ripening yet, I've been told of they are big enough to eat to put them into a box and somewhere dark, is this true? Thank you in advance

                        Much better to let them ripen on the plant at this stage, maybe later when the days get shorter, its something you could do.
                        Some people put other ripe fruit near the tomatoes as that gives off a gas which promotes ripening, bananas are a favourite.:biggrin:
