      Hello there everyone.:gmorning:

Glad to hear that everything went well yesterday Vicky, another thing to tick off the list.:dbgrtmb:.

We decided in the end to drive over to spend the whole day with my brother, my two sisters and great nephew came mid afternoon to join in celebrating his birthday with us.....there were cakes appearing from every corner!!!! :heehee:

We got back home around 6pm after leaving home at 10am. So it was a day full of company for him.... we probably all wore him out!!

Not sure what we're up to today yet...I should really have a day at home to catch up on a few bits.

I must also see if I can book some cinema seats as my friend and I plan on going on Wednesday but their site was playing up yesterday and I was unable to make booking so...:fingers crossed: for today.

      Have a good day .:)

Morning all from a wonderfully fresh Algarve. It is 16c and breezy but we will be going back to 29c later staying breezy.

Pleased you all had a good day with brother Upsy ... that was a long visit.

J got the report through yesterday afternoon so I will translate it today whilst he goes to the Optomotrist to get certification for his Driver's License renewal coming up next month. You have to have Medical Certification every two years after 70 and he will turn 74.

I got a new Adenium caudex from Spain yesterday and potted it but have decided to redo it in one of the new pots I got last week.

Other than that, nada here that I know of.

          Good day
It is 66f and the sky is grey. We had a really good rain again last night and the gardens are all happy.

@Upsydaisy I hope you got your bookings okay. @Victoria :fingers crossed: your translation produces a welcome report and J is not in any danger.

I've got another busy day but it shall start very pleasantly as I will be making pats of butter for tomorrow's picnic. I'm waffling between two different designs- whether to make rosettes or stars. Maybe for fun I'll do half and half. They will get frozen so that the butter won't turn into liquid on the journey over to the picnic. I do have an electric cooler in the van but it is still not as cold as a fridge.

I won't be driving Violet today as she is getting the day off so that she can spend it with my son, his wife and with my grandson Max on his birthday. They are taking him to the Ripley's Aquarium and getting there by train. He loves both of those activities.

          Cheers :coffee:

Morning all. Tuesday, 72 degrees now. almost 8Am
Nothing awesome planned today. Just tasks toward the trip leaving on July 30th.
Hopefully we can clean out the fridge, eat up all the perishable food etc. Veggies etc. cost too much to waste. Or figure out how to take with us. The breakfast offerings at hotels, here are yucky, in general I know it is over processed junk. Thank goodness they have fruit. I lean toward the oatmeal, but who knows about that. If they have hard boiled eggs that is safe. I do hard boil my own for the drive, and sandwiches etc. drinks. We have a cooler. But that only lasts so long.

Anyway, have a good day all.

              Morning all.

Pleased to say I've survived from the traumas of yesterday. Post is on You're Day (apart from gardening), I can't bring myself to relive the experience by writing it up again.

Last night I planned a trip into the Surrey countryside by bus....but after yesterday hubs will need a lot of convincing....at the moment he's saying that I can go alone...not very friendly I'm thinking. :heehee:
I think he's worried about the 3 bus changes and in case they don't connect up .,no sense of adventure anymore:roflol:.

Thanks Lori ,yes cinema seats are all safely booked for this afternoon. The film is 3 hours long so I had better scale down on my morning coffees.;)

It's got fantastic reviews and they're saying if you're only going to see one film then this must be it.

Barbie has also got fab reviews too and looks hilarious!! We're going to see it in September when the school holidays are over.:dbgrtmb:

Not everyones cup of tea I know ( hubs thinks we're mad) but we enjoy a good giggle. Complete opposite from Oppenheimer !! We have a wide range in tastes when it comes to movies:roflol:

              Have a brilliant day everyone.

Morning all. Another fresh start to the day at 16c but needless to say going to warm/hot at 20ish. At least the night temps make for a better sleep of 6-8 hours.

J doing a bit of grocery shopping today but a quiet day otherwise.

Morning all, Wednesday here. 9AM. rained again last night.
Just continue tasks toward the trip for the day.
I usually go to the cinema to see Big Movies--like the last one Indiana Jones, or Star Wars things. the little drama people type I save for when they get on TV if I ever remember by then. And for the big Movies, I hope to find 3D ones. @Upsydaisy . We have what is called "On Demand" here, pay for the movie, sit and watch it from your couch, can turn off and get back to it later if needed, its about 20 dollars. But yet, again, if you wait long enough it gets cheaper. Right now, I am into that series "Suites" it is on Netflix, so feet up lab top in my lap, at about 8PM, for an hour, keeps me interested so far. Hard for me to also go to the cinema in general on nice days, as the garden calls me louder.

I love taking solo vacation trips. Had one in mind, was talking to husband about it, but then he says, "can he go with me"? What am I going to say. LOL. There is a destination SPA about 3 hours from me, it comes up as one of top five SPA's in the USA, been there 3 years ago before the virus nuttiness, it was awesome. Going to plan that again in the fall, its up in the Poconos. Cost actually was decent, it includes all three meals and snacks, and the cost of services are no more or less than normal costs. And its simply beautiful. They treat you like a queen.
Anyway, chatting up a storm again. Have a good day all.

Yes redstar we have Netflix and On Demand too, but imo you can't beat watching movies in a really nice cinema with lovely comfy seats and with brilliant full blown sound systems. In our 'main lounge (that we hardly use) we have a large screen with a brilliant Dolby sound system.......but it just doesn't really match the whole big screen cinema experience!!!

Today's film I can highly recommend although the subject matter I think is horrendous.

Buses what's not too love....our roads are so busy these days and also as people age and undeniably lose their ability to respond as quickly as they were able to when they gained their full license it's a perfect way to still get out and about without endangering others. The best bit though is the driver gets to relax and enjoy the scenery and doesn't have to hunt down parking spaces. We still use our car..we did on Monday..but really try hard not to if possible.:) Must say that I think we're fitter for it too!:blue thumb:

I think it would be a very sad day if my home chores kept me from enjoying catch up with friends, days out with hubs and our cinema visits with friends that we all really enjoy....after all isn't that what retirement is all about after a life of working full time...well apart from the 4years off to grow our family that is.
We still get to enjoy our garden as we eat all our meals out there ..unless it's pouring down, which hasn't happened very often lately.

The last movie for me was too loud, we were in the center, so I wadded up some tissue and stuck it in my ears. Next time getting some ear plugs.

When I think about it, of the friends I have, none are retired that can just join me for a movie, or they live too far away, or maybe busy with medical issues. And no family near-by either, they also live too far away. I just only like certain movies at the cinema, never been into drama people stories for movies in general. And I prefer my views to be my garden and the quiet of my deck and a glass of wine. Perhaps its because for 55 years I have been surrounded by people needing something from me 24/7, I am just glad for the quiet.

Agree 100% about people needing something from you.!!!....if it wasn't from the children and their families that were on my register and, not that I begrudged doing so, caring for my Dad and his house chores for 15 years and in the latter years his garden too then it was also of course from our own brood too!!! :phew::thud:.....think I've well and truly earned my ' own time ' now somehow.:dbgrtmb:

My hubs has been here in the UK for 50 years yet he still retains a strong accent and just like J some of his pronunciations ...dare I say it....make me giggle.:heehee:

Mind you Vicky I think over time we may not really notice their accents as much as other people do.

Morning everyone ,I hope this finds you all well and ready to face the day ahead.

We had a good splash of rain yesterday evening and it looks like we may get a little more today as well ,so the forecast says. Currently it's bright and dry out there ,so we'll have to wait and see.

We're debating at the moment whether we go today or tomorrow to see my brother. How the rest of our day pans out will depend on our decision.

                              Have an enjoyable day.:)
