Husband Ohio to Alabama was a move for his Father's job. Mine were all my Father's jobs except Alabama-SC, SC-Alabama which was personal for me. Alabama to England was J and I for me to return home. England to Portugal was J and I emigrating here. Both of Father's worked in Engineering/Aerospace. J was in the music business in Alabama, IT in England. I was in Criminal/PI law in Alabama, Human Resources/Contract Law in England.

Lots of paperwork for J to go to England. It was okay for me to come to Portugal as England was EU but lots of paperwork for J as he had to come as a Family Member through me in both cases. Now because of Brexit I had to re-apply here, got my permanent card in January, then had to re-apply for J's permanent card ... which he got last month ... but it is now lost in the system/post and we are today waiting to find out where it is!!!

Favourite place for both is here ... it is sub tropical with no winter, although J loves the snow.

Bet you wish you hadn't asked! :rolleyespink:

Oh, loved to read it. Neat. I have a brother-in-law his second wife is from Polland, she retains her house in Poland and I believe they have been married going on 5 years. He is still dealing with paperwork as he prefers to live in Polland at her house. He does have a house here, about and hour from us.
Yes, I love the snow also, so could not live somewhere that does not snow at least once. Love the crispness of the snow, the chill in the air, and the quiet. Too much heat bothers me, when sweat pours off my forehead that is done for me. Another set of in-laws who live in California in the summer they "only" spend time inside in the "air conditioning" , like that is not living. To each its own.

We lived in North Alabama, Huntsville, and it snowed there in Winter and folk would ski down our road ... it also would often get to 100F in the Summer. There were also lots of tornadoes and the music store J managed got flattened in the big 1974 one. We have a/c here but we only put it on for a few hours when we hit 30c. Most of the year we don't need air or heat (we also have a wood fire) and you live with doors and windows open.

@Victoria what musical instrument do you play? Or how many? My brother plays a few, my dad did also --the clarinet. I did not go that direction sometime wish I had.
Husband's father was a music teacher in High S. supposedly according to husband he learned to play one, and so did his siblings, don't know which ones, as they have never played any before. I personally found that strange, but say very little regarding. As I think a group of folks playing music in a gathering would be rather joyful. So no clue why in all these years been with the family no one sat down to play anything. There was even a piano at the house, and never never anyone played it.

Redstar, I don't play anything. I am a more crafty person, painting with acrylics, crochet. J doesn't really play anything either although he has a 'hobby business' here of buying and selling, mostly guitars.

            Morning everyone....the weekend has arrived!!

Think we're in for a mixed bag of weather today...if our forecast is anything to go by.

I want to start taking some cuttings today if possible .

Yesterday I potted up the recently sown 2nd batch of Lettuce and Beetroot.

We didn't go for our river side walk in the end yesterday as I had forgotten that we had a delivery coming. Hopefully we might fit it into today's plans.

It would've been my parents 73rd wedding anniversary today.:imphrt:

            Have an enjoyable Saturday.

              Morning all.

A bright and breezy start to the day with high temps facing us later. An Extreme High Temp Warning is in place now through 10pm on Monday ... and August (our hot month) isn't even here yet!

              Wishing everyone a relaxing weekend.

Morning all, Saturday, 8:21 Am. Last day home till Aug. 10. Leaving early on Sunday, first stop Pittsburgh, PA, one night, 2nd stop Mason, Ohio, one night, dinner with friend, then Louiseville, KY till Monday, cousins meeting us in Louisville. Car Show. On way home we stay in Pittsburgh, PA for 3 nights to see the town, explore etc. One of my favorite "Foodie Stores" is there. Thats the sum of it.
But for now back to the list of things to do. Glad it rained again last night.
Have an awesome couple of weeks all. See yah. Hugs.

                  Good day
It is 72f with lots of thunder and rain. The guessers say it will clear out by around lunchtime.

I hope your trip goes smoothly @redstar . There is always tension when one if taking a valuable car like yours out. I've heard horror stories of thieves stealing vehicles, trailer and all and even breaking into several storage units until they get to the one with the car! So I'll keep my fingers crossed that not one of these crooks even thinks of targeting you!

My girlfriends are thinking about going down to Jamestown, N.Y. (Lucy & Desi Museum) and I am waffling as to whether I want to go. One lady is very wobbly on her feet and I worry that she could get into difficulties as there would be a good deal of walking while visiting this city. I remember when we were all in New Orleans that myself and another gal ended up with back pains from trying to support her, almost half carry her, around town. Not sure I want to do that again as I'm not getting any younger and she has put on even more weight since that last trip. I'll have a good long think as I also don't want to be mean to anyone!

I've got another busy week on with breakfasts, lunches, travels nearby towns and I may need to flip across the border to pick up an order. It is for a tidy looking animal barrier (rabbits) for around my vegetable area. I have netting around it but it looks sloppy to me as I had to "frankenstein" various poles etc.

@Upsydaisy I love those Canterbury Bells! I have tried to grow them a few times and probably should have again this year as being a wet summer, they would have had an excellent chance to root/establish before our harsh winter.

@Victoria I always love Hibiscus. Thank you for sharing the pic.

And @Flumpy I do think about you and of course @Michael Hewett I always try to take time to read your posts sprinkled throughout the forum :)

Got to get going here so

                  Cheers :coffee:

The trailer of couse has its usual locks on the back, at night there is a very thick thick chain that is run through the tire rim to the frame of the trailer, you'd need a torch and lots of time to cut though it all, and a extra strong lock is on it. The trailer itself is not obvious, just an ugly steel gray, no attention to be drawn to it. And we park it under lights at hotels, husband usually goes out at 3AM to check, we also have a Tracking system hidden in the traier, car and the tow car. so any movement it is triggered on our cell phones. We never tell anyone what is in the trailer if they ask, they don't usually ask. Also where the car show is, the trailer parking is all gated and has 24 hour security. And we have all, naturally insured of course. That pic. is when we were coming back from Syracuse, NY, it snowed on the way home. Thanks for the concern. Trailer..jpg

Spotted this yesterday hiding away in one of our borders. It's the only one from the batches that I've grown this year that has multi coloured blooms. Isn't Mother Nature clever!!

                      Marigold

                      Morning everyone.

Lori I can understand your quandary over deciding what to do about the proposed trip with your friends ....very difficult. If you had issues last time then I can't really see how things will be any better this time around .

Vicky I hope you've still got that breeze making things more pleasant for you.

Yesterday I decided to stay put here at home and catch up with a few things....
.....soooo hoping to go on our riverside walk this morning , we'll get there eventually!!:roflol:

We could have a bit of the wet stuff later this morning so IF we're doing this walk then we'd better get a wiggle on.

                      Have a great day.

                        Morning all.

Must look out another morning theme today.

What can I say one can do in this heat. I/we do get to sit/be outside for a few hours a day, before noon and between 6-9pm when temps are tolerable and there is a breeze. Two more days of these high temp warnings for now ... then we see what August brings! We topped at 35c yesterday.

                        Enjoy your day.
