I visited the DIY to buy some lumber for a job and wandered into their garden center.

These two followed me home and I think they'll add a brilliant contrast to my current celosia.

:hate-shocked: You are more tolerant than we are . We have never allowed guests to smoke indoors in the almost 60 years we have been married and no smoking outdoors except right at the bottom of the garden - it helps them get their exercise

Of course, we don't have any friends left! :loll:

After enjoying a lovely lunch out in Winchester yesterday we strolled through the main park and sat...no not people watching, which is my fave past time:heehee:... but Great Dane watching instead, we sat mesmerized by the stunning dog who was one of the most well behaved dogs I have ever seen. There were so many distractions going on around him but he was not deterred from displaying his good behaviour at all. I felt honoured to watch this beautiful dog. 20230801_124704.jpg

I can't think of anyone I know who smokes now, but when I did I didn't let them smoke in the house nor in the car.

They were really close by Vicky so I didn't like to take pics....feels a bit intrusive sometimes I think, I doubt that they would've minded but due to their closeness it just didn't 'feel' right. I prefer to work undercover!!!:roflol:

I would have with an animal. I believe folk are chuffed if others find their animals are worthy of photos rather than annoyance. ;)

I don't think I would because so many dogs are stolen these days it might worry the owners. There are lots of untrustworthy and devious people around, and the owners wouldn't know you were genuine.

There was a Great Dane that used to live, about 30+ years ago, at a small hotel near us that had a very good restaurant open to the public. We used to go there and the dog was really friendly but knew not to go into the restaurant. Most restaurant customers used to go into the lounge after their meal to greet the dog. :doggieshmooze:

They also had a resident cat and it had a litter of lovely fluffy kittens but the cat died whilst they were still very young. The dog immediately took over looking after the kittens and it was lovely to see the dog lying on its side in front of the open fire with the kittens snuggled up to its belly. If they started wandering towards the restaurant it used to go and pick them up in its mouth and bring them back. :)

We just handed over another £500 to the charity we support that we raised from sale of plants and veggies. :blue thumb:

Although we no longer open our garden (haven't done so since Covid) we still get some money in each year. Last year it was, I think, about £2,000. :)
