I found a Kniphofia in a pot which I thought had died. It's in a big tub actually and I'm debating whether to leave it in the tub (with some fresh compost) or plant it in the ground.
Watered my cacti in the greenhouse. Succulents in the perspex shelter will have to wait until the week end.
Also found an Eucomis growing, that I'd forgotten about. I had quite a surprise to see it !

Garden lady got rid of some brambles for me yesterday, that are weedling their way in from next door - and were several feet long.

I've removed the Garden Parasol, it was only used to shade the Tomatoes and not sit under. I think I only used it twice this Summer.
But I do have a couple of Crimson Crush Toms turning Red:hapfeet:

Deadheaded everything, I haven't done that for over a week as it has been raining hard non stop.

We have a Tesco groceries delivery this evening and one of the drivers is a keen gardener, arriving early in order to have a good 15 mins chat about my plants. I couldn't risk him seeing the undeadheaded grim excuse of garden in bloom so scissors came out

Harvested 4 beans and one cucumber. Mr Blackbird has kindly harvested my Blackcurrants I grow for him. I dislike the fruit but like the plant, I'm growing it as a standard and it's starting to man up finally. :)

A strange celestial light is illuminating the slugs, either something very big has just exploded or we finally have some sun. :hapydancsmil:

Picked some blackberries, blueberries, redcurrants. Deadheaded the roses and marigolds, watered the hanging baskets and the tubs under the kitchen window.

Husband has been measuring up for wood to make a supporting frame for tomato plants next year. It will have to be roughly 5 x 5 x 2.5ft then it won't encroach on the seating arrangements when having family around. Plus we have an elect awning that can be used for shade!

I was also outside checking out prices for 20L air pots and trying to gain a little knowledge on propagators??? Thermostatic ones look ideal as it will be going in our front porch. There isn't any heating in there except when dryer is running so it seems the ideal place for it to be placed (top of dryer). Its just a matter of deciding which one to buy :spinning:

Stuffing trimmings of Virginia Creeper through the shredder and leaving the pieces in bags to rot down a bit.

Spraying Rosate 360 on weeds growing in the drive, back yard, and the garden's vegetable plot. They say it won't rain tonight... fingers crossed.

Looked at an allotment. Actually, I think it's another half an allotment.

It's very overgrown, with a (bird) cherry tree about 8"/200mm diameter near the bottom of the trunk, a couple of overgrown apple trees maybe 4m high, and a small pear tree, and an ash tree in a corner, fortunately not large at about 5m, all in between two rough plots.

I think it would need completely clearing, the trees are slap bang in the middle. No fence or useful posts.

Hm. It's all rather discouraging. Maybe I'll have another look though, if it actually stops raining...

Just dashed out to check over the garden whilst the rain was having a rest. Trimmed a few bits here and there just before the heavens opened again.

Not much with all the rain but chopped out some foliage from in the greenhouse and added in some more screw eyes along the ridge beam. I need to remove some side shoots from the melons tomorrow although I think I've left it too late to get a decent crop

Today I started off with putting my awning out this morning at 6am “glad it’s electric as it can be done from the kitchen” It wasn’t raining, but the ground was very damp from last night, then I took tomatoes fleece covering off so they can flap their leaves in the little breeze we have at the moment. :yay:

7am - Sun is out, the sky is blue - awning retracted and hubby has moved the tomatoes away from the patio wall and into a wider space of their own. Tomatoes are looking more overly yellow in colour and hoping for the first sign of blush coming to them showing me that I am on the right track of getting ripened tomatoes.:spinning:
