Its become the way of things, just rip us off because we dont have a choice.
There is no real competition going on they are all making the most of it while they can that includes food manufacturers, because they can always blame the energy companies.

Without all world governments dismantling the massive energy companies I think things will not improve.

      It's obscene!

LONDON, May 2 (Reuters) - BP (BP.L) made a $5 billion profit in the first quarter of 2023, a rise on the previous three months on the back of stellar oil and gas trading, but its shares fell sharply as it slowed a share buyback programme.

I am disabled. I need a car or I would be stuck at home. I cannot afford it and I cannot afford to be without it.

We haven't needed our heating on for about 3-4 weeks ,and I very much doubt we'll have to use again now until Autumn. :)

Good news. Had an email from my energy supplier, on 1st July their charges are coming down by 17% on average. Also in October we can expect a further drop of around 7%.

In April 2022 I signed a fixed rate deal for 24 months. It certainly worked in my favour when the prices shot up but I haven't checked whether I'm now paying more than the current rate.

You mean now it's going down the government are going to put more tax on it???
                        That would be political suicide.

                            Beware of energy supplier offers.

Eon has just invited me to fix my tariff for 12 months, but the rate is set at the current energy price cap.

If I fix, then change my mind later, there's a sizeable exit fee. A quick Google suggests most suppliers are doing the same.

Now, it might be a good deal. Energy prices might go up again in winter. But if the energy companies were expecting that to happen, I doubt they'd be pushing one year fixes.

I might be wrong, but I have a sneaking suspicion they're just milking us. I think they are playing on the fear that we'll have a repeat of last year, which we might, but I think loads of people will lock in, then be gutted if the price actually drops, because then they'll have to decide whether to keep paying over the odds, or pay a substantial exit fee.

All I can say is please think carefully before you decide what to do. Personally, I'm undecided as yet, but leaning towards taking my chances and staying on the standard tariff.

I dont think I will be fixing my price any time soon, if I take a hit so be it, but things are too volatile just now.

Just a side issue, but Morrisons were selling diesel at 4p a litre less than petrol yesterday, strange things happening.
