    Good Evening,

I thought it might be nice to create a thread to track my progress of the garden. Now, I am new to Gardening (6 months or so) so please, any advice is greatly received.

AS you will see in the images I have gone in with a bang... It is how I feel I learn best, no point in going half hearted. Well, I may live to regret saying that.

    So what have I done?
    • Small planted area in the barked area of the garden
    • 26ft x 3ft x 2ft Raised planter
    • Added LOTS of plants that I am currently trying to keep alive
I hope you like the images. I will update this thread when I see any changes, good or bad..... Hopefully not the latter!

    Thanks,

    Dugie

What a grand job you've made of your garden Dugie! I wouldn't have thought you've been gardening for only six months.

It looks lovely. You are good with woodwork and you've got a nice selection of shrubs. It has a very relaxed look ...
Your little companion seems to be enjoying the sunshine

It's a good idea to start this thread, it will be easier for you to look back and see how things progress.

Thanks everyone. Just a quick question....

Is it normal to worry about my plants when I am away for 4 days or am I losing it!

In a heatwave possibly Dugie, but with our current weather I wouldn't worry, they'll survive. :)

It's quite normal for me, I worry about them if I haven't seen them for an afternoon ... but I 'lost it' many years ago :heehee:

I suppose it shows you care about them if you worry about them, it means you have a real interest in your garden.

Well I am back from London and I was right back in the garden.

                          To do list...

                          • Trim Ivy
                          • Check all plants & trim as needed
                          • Cut tree branches from tree that grows over my fence... That is why i am on a roof in some photos.
                          • Turn over soil and water as needed.
                          • And lastly, a general tidy up.
Long day but worth it. All i need to do this weekend is cut the grass and reseed a few patches.

My wife was busy painting the double chair and it now looks like new. Also the Dahlias I planted and placed behind the chair are thriving!

Time for a well deserved rest.

                          Mini Project
Last of all, I have starting thinking up a new mini project. Had some left over wood and got my hands on this railing... See image.

I am thinking of a climber as I have a Clematis propagating at the moment and the signs are looking good.

                          20230811_192953.jpg

I am not sure wether to have it flat, or standing up. But I am still in the thinking stages and will update with any progress. (All ideas welcome)

                          Thanks all,

                          Dugie

Well that's pretty smart, you should be well happy. A few observations....
The darker fence colour really will bring out any colour from the plants

Your garden is so very tidy and peaceful, with something interesting to look at everywhere. Well done @Dugie !
