What's your Weather Like August 2023/Closed

Hopefully we dont get the worst of it here, but still warnings for possible thundery rain.
Been a pleasant afternoon here and 26c for a while.

 

At 3pm it stopped raining now just heavy cloud and a moderate breeze from the south east temp 20c feels like 24c
It could rain again.

 

The cloud cover broke up this afternoon & we had some lovely warm sunny intervals! The only "rain"we had was a very light drizzle that didn't last long. That was about 10 or 11am. It's now 9.30pm & no rain in the immediate offering! We are forecast some heavy rain between about 11pm & 3am. We will see, or rather, hear as we will be in bed fast asleep - unless we are woken up by the weather! Temps will be very high with 19C at the moment going up to 20C before coming back down to 17C at 6am!

17c sunny, last nights storm didn't come to anything a bit of rain about 8-9pm

 

Heavy rain last night, but looks like it's been dry since around midnight, I think I heard a clap of thunder at one point.
18c now lots of clouds but the sun keeps popping out.
Windy.

 

Hazy sun with a light breeze, 17c going to low 30s. Yellow High Temp Warning extended to Tuesday now.

 

Breezy night, regular taps as green pinecones landed on the flat roof, currently around 18°C, bright, sunny later and a fresh breeze from the South West.

 

All of those dire weather predictions CAME TO NOTHING! I wish they wouldn't make out that it''s going to be so bad when it never is.
No strong winds. No T & L . Just an hour or so of heavy rain.

Anything written up in "newspapers" is likely to be unreliable. I prefer "Metcheck", but it's important with any forecast to know what the actual symbols mean. Metcheck has a "Help & Information" section on the forecast page, containing various definitions including for instance:

Speed (10 metre Wind Speed) - This is the average wind speed recorded at 10m above ground
Gust (Surface Gust Wind Speed) - This is the average gust wind speed at 10m above ground expected within the forecast period.

So what we experience at ground level may be different.

 

The rain was so heavy last night it blew part of the downpipe off.
Nice and sunny now.

 

I got 10mm yesterday, its gusty here as well, but mostly sunny now after a cloudy morning.
Its pushing 25c now.
