Put some wood ash on the lillies then put some old compost on top. Deadheaded the cosmos, snapdragons and roses, tied up the gladioli.

I did my usual morning hour of bean picking and have been digging out Verbascum chaixii that have grown through the Dahlia bed. Dahlias all died in the winter but we shall be replanting. The Verbascum needed a post hole spade to get them out!

I've started digging and weeding in the herb garden. It has been overrun with violets that are a nuisance for digging, especially since the bed has willow and silver birch roots all through it. Cut 3ft off the bay tree and brought it down to 6-7ft.

Even in the shade it is now too hot for me so shall be resting for a while.

Gosh you are good, you seem to be always doing something in all their gardens when you visit, are they elderly/ disabled?

You mean there's nothing at all to do in your garden @Upsydaisy ?
There's always something to do in mine, but I'm not very efficient

I started out going over my sisters with a big bag of blackberries and a bag of figs, got half way and the road was blocked for some reason, but everyone in front was turning round, so guessed they hadn't moved for a while.
So came back home and cut back a big tree that overhangs my greenhouse, its the neighbours tree and half rotten but wont die, must be nearly 40ft high, it going to come down one day, in a storm, I just hope it goes their way.

Nothing that can't wait, I did all essentials yesterday. This is the new me Michael...:dbgrtmb:

I made a decision earlier this year that hubs and I would get out and about more and spend precious time together making memories. I realised that the days and weeks can melt into each other if we just beaver away in our garden for the majority of our week .
This came about after sadly having 5 deaths earlier this year...3 of whom were in our age group.

I'm sorry to hit on this subject and we're definitely not gloomy...just grateful to have been given this eye opener/ food for thought.

A few hidden weeds can wait. We do garden tasks at the weekends and get out and about during the week as it tends to be a bit quieter then.

I'm in hiding now as I'm way off topic .:oopss:

Today, like most Mondays, I watered all the plants in the flat as well as on the balcony with fertilizer. It takes about an hour to do this! Later I did a little deadheading of the Morning Glories as well as the Petunias & Geraniums.

I mowed the weeds early this morning...literally :) Blades set to highest setting so what bit of grass is still green was untouched, but beheaded all the 'cow-grass' (for want of a botanical name) and other nasties trying to colonise. Once it's cooled down and rained, I'll give it a dose of selective weedkiller to get rid of the rosette-type weeds. Apart from that, it's watering 24/7 at the mo.

Thanks Upsydaisy, they don't know much about gardening so i give them a hand with the weeding, if i have any plants left i give them to Geoffrey. He does have trouble with arthritis in his back and can't bend much. I think that he's 75 and they helped us when hubby was recovering from his hip replacement, Marion would take us shopping in Geoffrey's car.
