Hello, I have a cherry blossom tree and have noticed a few of the small branches have dying leaves. Looking at the affected branches I can see a jelly substance. Should I cut off the infected branches and try and remove the jelly (is this a type of insect egg?)
I have looked at other cherry blossom posts and see about canker but I don’t think this looks the same and not affected the main branches IMG_4840.jpeg IMG_4841.jpeg

Looks like sap to me, could be a sign of canker.

I seem to remember something called gumosis ,it happens mostly with trees that belong to the Prunus family.
I'd cut it all out if you can.

Oh yes I've got my trees mixed up thought it were apples and pears which didn't really get effected by it and cherries and plums did but its the other way round.
