Take time to heal and for the soreness to subside....it will never completely leave you but the happy memories will ease it a lot when they finally take their place from the grief. Hard to imagine but believe me it does suddenly, magically happen...just be patient.

Thankyou Upsydaisy….. I still can’t get my head around my mum not being at her house with dad, it feels surreal, but comforting to see my mums ornaments or jewellery and flowers there, the funeral is on Wednesday from 10.30 onwards, she will be buried at 11.30, family are coming from Scotland and Gloucestershire, Sadly some of mums cousins and friends can’t make it as they are ill health or elderly but I will visit them in the near future

 

Morning all. Saturday, 7AM up. Got home late last night, stopped had dinner at a local diner which always has good home cooking. And our dear cat waiting for us on the deck as we rolled in at about 8PM. She is all good, looks great, thank goodness for my helpful neighbor. Got a few things out of the car, more again today, naturally.
@Upsydaisy , all three cameras are outside, one on each far side of both garages to see full views of driveway and acending stairs to front door. One on post in back looking down the dock walk to the dock in case anyone on boat ties up and enters that way. None inside. As long as we acknowledge that we have them outside that is all that matters, with an airbnb not allowed any inside. Are they easy to spot? ---guess so if your observant, they are white, not too big, not too small about size of a two cup measuring container. If I were a guest I would expect them to be there anyway. And there is a security sign out front.
Have a lot of stuff to deal with home now, garden wise. And we are again leaving on Sept. 5 for a long trip to Kalamazoo, MI, then directly to Burlington, VT. Total of 15 days gone. Yes, another car show, actually 2 of them. Enroute we will meet up with more cousins, and friends. as I have alerted them our close location to them in traveling. Anyway, that's my world for now. Have a good day all.

Yes it's a strange, unreal feeling @Flumpy , to be honest, as I said happy memories will dominate your thoughts soon but the unreal feeling can linger. It would have been my dear Dad's 98th birthday tomorrow and the sadness has hit me fully this weekend . I still can't believe my lovely Mum has be gone 17 years either. Fortunately I have lots of photos and videos of both of them. We are so lucky these days to have such technology....to be able to hear them talking is so lovely and comforting on ' down ' days.
Remember we all have a lot to be grateful for..

I will be with you in spirit on Wednesday. xx

 

Good morning everyone.

Gosh it's gone very quiet on this thread lately hasn't it. Recently ,during a bored moment , I looked back over the years gone by on this thread......it was so different!!!

It's such a shame really.


We're in for another pleasant day here so maybe a bit of weeding of the pathway this afternoon..

But more importantly first is the 4 mile walk ( there and back as no buses go that way anymore.) to the cemetery to wish my darling Dad a Happy Birthday with a display of flowers from our garden. That'll probably take up this morning.

Morning all who visit. Thankfully today we are back to normal Summer weather. Currently it is sunny with a light breeze, 19c going to 30ish but we have a Wind Warning, but that's okay.

Hopefully now I will get some energy back to continue my ongoing exercise for balance. I am going to try the Tai Chi Walk (the Cat Walk) ... I have been sluggish these past months because of the intense heat but I have kept up the static cycling.

Just a pleasant orchard Sunday here with a movie or two.

Morning Vicky, sounds like a very relaxing Sunday in store for you...have fun....but I don't envy your 50C temps!!! What's happening with our weather....it's so scary!!!

Sorry ... corrected! I do this just after waking in bed on my lap with the sun in my eyes ... so no telling what I type.

Enjoy your walk. I have done my exercise so I am going out shortly to water my Nursery and sit with the sun on my face (rather than in my eyes).
