The ones that i have are big tables broken in half.

 

Head up, put tablet on back of tongue, and hold nose until they swallow.

 

Thanks I've tried that and they back away and spit it out.

 

That's what we used to with our 5 little dogs! Though we also tried putting them in their food but often they would spit them out & it was back to "force-feeding" them the tablets! Four of the five had heart related problems.

 

Now, to get back on topic! I didn't do more than empty water (rain!) that had accumulated it the new pots I got at 50% reduction in Wilkos the other day. I bought the pots for my Amaryllis (x10) but don't want to transplant them till the spring next year. It seems a shame to have 10 brand new pots & not use them before the spring so, as I've started to remove the mildew stricken Petunias from the balcony railings, I thought I could put the Geraniums or Fuchsias or whatever plants I can find,into these new pots. It's far too late to repot any plants on the edge of autumn, so they will stay in their original pots but sit inside the new ones. But as they held onto the rain from yesterday I took the majority out again. I don't want them to rot! I only discovered what was happening when I went to straighten up one pot that is really too big for the new ones & found the bottom was full of rainwater! I checked the rest & they were similar.

I then set about sweeping the balcony floor. It's been several days since I last did so & the balcony had accumulated lots of leaves, as well as spilt compost.

I checked the tomato plants & removed a few leaves. They are looking very good - that is except for 1 which has very screwed up leaves & is very elongated! The leaves do seem to open more or less properly as they get bigger but they still remain smaller than the leaves on the other plants.

I've got lots of fruit, (for a cherry tomato like 'Gardeners Delight'), but other than the 2 trusses of fruit from the self-sown plant none are nearly ready to ripen as yet. I shall have to pinch out the growing tips of the plants now as several of them have almost reached the balcony ceiling! I have no room to lay them down & then train them up again. Beside they are wrapped around the strings & it would be almost impossible to lower them without breaking them as they are all heavy with fruit.

 

Picked all but one of the winter squash as the foliage had died off. Did some weeding.

 

Garden lady came yesterday and helped me cut lots of overgrown shrubs back.
I gave vine weevil killer to my succulents. Already done the cacti. House plants Fuchsias and other patio plants in pots to do next.

 

What vine weevil killer do you use Michael?

 

Started weeding around the path in the front garden but it's starting to drizzle, so hubby said that I've got to come in.

 

Took some cuttings of sage, rosemary, thyme. Sown winter salads for the greenhouse. Dispatched four monster slugs.

 

And did you listen ? ... I never do as I'm told

It's called Bug Clear Ultra. It works systematilally and kills vine weevils and their larvae, and also aphids and a few other things.
I used to use Provado but I can't seem to find that anywhere these days, but Bug Clear works just the same.

 

So is it a soil drench or a spray?
I remember Provado being the first of its kind, I think.
Provado seems to have turned into Provanto.
