Thank you for your helpful suggestion.

Unfortunately, it seems these "repairs" are to the surface finish that someone's already had, or for damage to long nails, to make them cosmetically reasonable (I suspect that the majority of "nail bar" (I thought "Cadbury's!) business is for girls).

Superglue works quite well. I wondered about using hair as a sort of "hair reinforged glue" fix, but, alas, I haven't four hands!

          Here we go again, doctors.
Called at 8.45, put in a queue I was no19.
Call back 10.15, all appointments gone now, try again tomorrow or come and queue up outside for an 8.30 opening, people get there at 8 o clock usually and stand and wait.

Oh and by the way, we are only open half day today and only one person on the phone.
When you go there, there are about 10 or more office staff behind the scenes they out number the doctors and nurses by about 2 to 1 at least.

Reason for half day is staff training, do they have such a turn over of staff that they need to close the place one afternoon a month to train all these people, shouldn't most of them know what they are doing anyway.

I contacted my surgery via online form (reply within 48 hrs), got a test 4 hrs later saying I'd been assigned to a doctor for a face to face appointment and they would be in touch regarding date and time. 48 hrs later I ring up to see why no further communication to be told I'd been assigned a slot to arrange an appointment in 4 days time. Note they had met their stated response time of less than 48 hrs. On the assigned day I get a voice mail instructing me to ring surgery, 20 in queue, later 21, later 19, get home from work still 19 in queue 15 minutes later I learn my appointment is in a weeks time, after grovelling and exaggerating condition get a 0930 hr slot next day turn up; then doctor says computers are down, no access to notes and cannot issue prescriptions. Agree way forward and told she would be in touch when the computer were running again. Message hour later saying phones down as well, since then nothing, no message saying service was running again nothing from GP.
Just spent 20 minutes in a queue, to request promised link and get the prescription sent to the pharmacy, both will be done today, but I fully expect it will be another 20 minutes on the phone tomorrow.

I thought things were improving at my doctors but it appears not much.

I'll have to get in the queue outside tomorrow as it appears that while you are waiting in the phone queue for one and a half hours those outside are getting the appointments.
God knows what you do if you can't stand out there, i presume you are expected to die quietly. :dunno:

We sure are, they took the contraflow of the M20 for the first time since the start of the school holidays at the weekend, and then some bloke escapes from prison and suddenly the M20 is back to a lorry park.

It's as if they never want that road to ever be used properly again, any stupid excuse and they park lorries on it.

Blimey! There are worries over here about medical desertification i.e. too many rural GPs retiring all at once which means you might have to wait a week or so for an appointment, but that puts things into perspective! When we first arrived, we just sat in the GPs waiting room for anything between 5 and 20 minutes...no appointment necessary. What I don't like the sound of is the 'videoconsultation' replacing real GPs. Especially someone who traditionally knew your family and your medical history. It's not exactly an advance is it?

I don't know what the answer is getting an appointment at the Surgery.
I've seen patients waiting outside in the rain hoping to see a GP.

Sorry this may upset some, but the UK helps 3rd World Countries, we need to help our own first and sort out this damn mess the NHS is in.

The strange thing is we are robbing so called third world countries of their doctors, because all the ones we train just seem to be upping and leaving, its like the whole world is on the move all in the aim of finding a better life.

Well I hope they find it.

Anyone thought of staying in your own country and trying to improve it.
                      Obviously an old fashioned idea.:roflol:

I would have done, but it wasn't 'my' country any more  On a brighter note, look at all that money formerly grabbed by the EU that the UK has now to invest in the NHS. Errrrr.....:roflol:

Ahh now not lets bring Brexit into this, most of us real thinking people knew that was never going to happen.

So you moved to another country that is not yours either,, but its not really aimed at retired people its more about young people, they leave India, (example), and come to the UK for a better life in our NHS, then our Doctors sod off to Australia because the Aussies have a recruiting campaign going on over here saying how good the weather is over there and its the land of milk and honey.

Surely you can see, its just a matter of the poorer countries getting poorer and the UK is somewhere in the middle, slowly going down the pan because we are becoming third world.

And we haven't even managed to land something on the moon yet,;) but the ones we throw money at appear to be.

Thing is.....just how can ordinary people reverse the rot? Until or unless the self-serving Bs running the show are sacked en masse or guillotined or something, I can't see it getting better. You can't really blame people for abandoning a sinking ship

But everybody seems to be abandoning their particular sinking ship for the sinking ship that others are abandoning, it a world wide downward spiral.

We are getting it in the neck regarding slavery all those years ago, I just wonder how long it will be before certain countries will be queueing up for compensation for ripping off all their brainy people.
