      Hi,

Just a normal steady day today. This morning do a bit of weeding at 6" deep; no chance of removing them mixed with very thick established grass so used the spade and dug them in; dug a shrub out and did some hedge trimming by now it was near dinner time and my clothes were sticking to me.

After dinner do more work on the Howard Bulldog petrol rotavator restoration removing half of someone else's garden; soak the parts in Gunk to de-grease then use powerful paint stripper followed by much scraping and wire brushing; apply undercoat from a rattle can to the stripped chassis and now I've just cut the grass; it sure is hot and I'm wet again.

Chassis undercoated ready for correct Howard orange enamel top coat paint.

      Dirty hands time.

      Howard Rotavator_0003.JPG
Half a garden mixed with old oil.

      Starting to look better.

Howard Rotavator_0005.JPG Here the tines are still attached but then removed in order to make cleaning and painting easier. New set screws washers & nuts will be used at assembly.

It took quite a while but another section ready for painting.

Time now to call it a day and settle down to a YouTube movie with my wonderful wife; not a bad day at all today.

      Kind regards, Colin.

I intend to feed the plants on the balcony this morning using the tomato fertilizer that arrived yesterday. Shocking you can't find it in a traditional shop & have to buy it in an online shop!

I used to buy it at Wilcos or £land but neither have had any in more than a month at least! I looked in Tesco & B&M last Saturday but neither of them had any!

I don't have a car so couldn't go to a GC either! The thing that annoys me is that for a 500ml bottle I had to pay over £5! :rolleyespink:

Like many others, just did watering yesterday. It was too hot to do anything else. Unlike @Balc I'm a novice at growing Morning Glory, so we've been admiring the incredibly short blooms this week. They seem to be liking the heat - for all of half a day!

Nothing much today just the watering this evening and deadheading.

The big stores have given up on gardeners by this time of the year and sold all their gardening stuff off cheap last month, as you know, gardening only takes place for about 4 months of the year and has ended now.;)
They are looking forward to Christmas now, and so should you be.:roflol:

I'm being sarcastic just in case you miss my point.

Early this morning and late this evening I've been getting my raised bed ready for planting some winter onions - weeding it, tidying some herbs in pots that are around it, and raking the soil level.

Spent time cutting more Ivy which is getting out of control. Then tidied up the summer house and dusted off the power pack to run the lights.

Lovely evening to sit in there.

Yesterday just did some watering and swept the acorns from the east patio and the moss, that the birds kindly dump, from the lower patio.

Pulled up the pot marigolds and weeded the ground afterwards around the path in the front garden, ready for the wallflowers.

Having watered pots yesterday, I held off this morning due to the forecast. Thankfully, the forecast heavy rain materialised. Normally, I water then it ends up raining later... It made a nice change!

Clear up some of the plant debris from yesterday's storm! The damage wasn't as bad as it seemed when it had passed. I had a look at the balcony from the exterior & nothing seems to irremediably broken or destroyed!

I took it as a warning & took a few cuttings of some of the plants I particularly want to save during the winter. I was going to wait till the end of the month but after yesterday I have started taking cuttings!

I fed the tomato plants & one plant that is not the self-sown one has 3 or 4 tomatoes ready to pick.Another plant has at least one tom beginning to change colour!

Yesterday went to the local garden centres to get some daffodils and large yellow crocuses but they didn't have the crocus, so ordered online.
