Dahlia issue

Afternoon All, over the past few day's one of my Dahlia plants has started to go.... limp?

Leaves yellowing, stems soft. I have attached a photo of the stems....

Is it rot the brown sections?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Difficult to say but I think it might be just the natural colouring of the stems when they get exposed to sunlight.

 

I will have a look tomorrow. The whole plant seems to be getting worse

 

I agree with @pete it looks like natural colouration.
It could be that the pot is too small and it's not getting the water or it needs more watering.

 

I have kept up on the water as needed, checked the soil everyday with a moisture meter and watered as needed. I was thinking maybe I have over watered it with the stems going soggy?

I have really had to cut it back now as it seems to be losing the battle

 

Perhaps then there's not enough drainage.

 

I think you may be right.

 

I think if it was too dry, the leaves would be affected first, and not the stems. Perhaps the drainage holes have become blocked and it's now waterlogged completly. Maybe worth taking it out of the pot to look?

 

I will give this a shot.
