Didn't work. Welsh Labour not interested in the views of the electorate - much like Sadiq Khan.

Independent economist on tele this afternoon - when you take into account the reduction in accidents - hospital admissions etc - the blanket 20mph will have a net negative effect on the Welsh economy.

Notice that ULEZ and 20mph are all Labour ideas. Coming to your area soon - if Sir Kier gets in at the next general election - think that over before you place your 'X' on the ballot paper.

    This is marvellous...

You cant put an X on a ballot paper because they are all liars, you cant really vote for liars can you, or is it best to vote for the one you think is lying least.

I think there is an agenda that is being followed regardless of who we vote for, they know what is best for us and we are just idiots, "I know my place".:pathd:

All the roads here I'd be happy with 20, mostly they are jammed with traffic crawling along.

The roads here are not like that. It's different here. There are lots of villages that grew up in the industrial revolution but there is no real centre to any of them. They consist mostly of ribbon development along what used to be horse and cart tracks.
The villages run into each other and it is difficult to tell where one ends and the next one begins, but it isn't like an urban built up area, or a town/city. They are just through roads and you don't get traffic jams and holdups. There are one or two side streets but that's all. Behind them there's just open countryside and mountains.
As a result of this ribbon development you will now get 5 or 6 miles (or more in some places) of 20 mph. That's going to be difficult to drive along and it's going to take longer to get to your destination.

Well, I know I wouldn't, even if some are jammed with traffic, imagine going somewhere when they aren't jammed with traffic, maybe.
Traffic keeps the speed down anyway, but when there are few people about you need to be able to travel at a sensible speed.
Most 40s are now 30s around here, if they all suddenly went down to 20 it would be ridiculous.
As they always say, its a limit not the expected speed of travel, regardless of conditions.

I usually drive under 30 anyway but now I'll have to drive under 20 in order not to break the law.

Not sure how far people drive at 30mph, it wouldn't add many more minutes to do it at 20mph instead. But I understand the main argument in favour of reducing speed limits is to do with kinetic energy and stopping distances. Obviously a car hitting a pedestrian at 30 is going to do a lot of damage compared to the lower speed. I know this is an unpopular view and someone will find a website to contradict it but as Scotty said Ye cannae change laws of physics Jim

5mph and a man with a red flag in front it is then.
Think how much safer it would be if we all travelled at 10 mph, its been 30 in built up areas for as many years as I can remember,.

have we really been that reckless for all these years.

Well, Im getting my bus pass in 18 months. Looks like Labour will take my car off the road. Sorry Mark no road tax, fuel duty or insurance tax. Shooting yourself in the foot comes to mind. That bus pass is going to get some serious abuse :blue thumb:

I had mine many years ago but the number of buses has dwindled so much there are not many left to use the pass on.

I would love to see 20mph here as meeing this at 5mph would be bad enough because of them spike's low, driver is always on the phone, an ex artic trailar with no working brakes + could be upto 31 tons in weight and coming around a blind bend

Well, I don't know what the chances of that happening are, but yes, in certain places it is advisable ... although not on straight clear roads where there have never been any accidents.

I think it probably says in the highway code you should drive at a speed that suits the situation, or wording to that effect.

I suppose we do need limits but they are considered to be the limit and no higher, nobody says you cant go slower if you think it fits the situation.

Might be an upturn in money coming in though and an investment in speed camera vans in Wales in the next few months.

By default. However, as previously said, changes from the default are up to local councils. If it's thought to be wrong, people should make their views plain, to the councils.
