Couldn't decide whether to clean the car - a quick look at the weather forecast sorted than one out. Torrential rain.

The North Wales fire service are consulting on options for making savings next year. I've just took part in the public consultation - giving them both barrels for putting forward 2 options where there are fewer fire fighters. How is it that nowadays - money takes priority over saving lives - this isn't Russia...

Hope you had a better day today :) If cider causes Brits to break into fluent French, they'd better start selling it in the bars and cafés in Dordogneshire

          Looking good Michael. :)

After spending the morning working in the garden we gave ourselves the afternoon off .

We went into Winchester as we had decided we needed a riverside walk. We caught the bus but got off before reaching the city and on joining up with the River Itchen we followed it into the centre of the city.
It was a lovely relaxing walk and we stopped several times to just sit and enjoy the calming beauty of it all.

          Along the way we spotted..

The beautifully crystal clear waters, we actually spotted several fish too.

I heard that waking up from comatose state can also see patients suddenly fluent in French, or at least with French accents. That suggests a rather more interesting opportunities to enhance the Brits' language capabilities near the border

I'll sit back and observe ;)

A few weeks ago I put down flooring in all our flat except for the 2nd bedroom, which has wood laminate, & our bedroom, where my wife insisted on carpet, which I also laid! Got most of the measurements wrong as well which ended up costing us extra money! I don't understand how I could have got them so wrong! I thought I had put in the right ones but I obviously didn't! I should have written them down instead of relying on my memory! :rolleyespink: The bedroom had a metre of carpet extra  - which I tucked into the built in cupboards! :blue thumb:

I did all the rooms taking alternate days to do work & resting every other day - it took me a week to do the flooring - & a month (at least) to recover from the exertion! :rolleyespink:

I went to buy some brushes and paint for my art work. Six thin brushes and a few small tubes of watercolour paint - the smallest size. It cane to £104. ! :yikes: I told the till person I'd forget the paints, I'll clean up the ones I've got and use those. I kept the brushes even though they came to over £30.
Then I called in a garden centre which usually sells a nice selection of loose bulbs, but it was hopeless so I bought something else instead (see latest purchase thread tomorrow)

if you are referring to the old Yale type latches, yes they are useless these days, the door slammed behind me a couple of years ago and a quick shoulder barge broke the latch at the first attempt.
The metal just buckled inside the latch.
I think you can get more secure ones these days if you pay for them.

Aww bless her @Drahcir . My younger and only brother suffers too from this very cruel disease , although he was only officially diagnosed 3 years ago with Early Onset Alzheimer's (symptoms first show between the ages of 30- 60 )we his family have had concerns for many years. He now has virtually no powers of any memory recall short or long term.
It was brilliant that your dear Mum rekindled a spark in her memory to be able to recite Eddi's Service....even someone without dementia would struggle I'm sure.....well done your Mum!!:love30: 6 verses!!!
