The biggest con regarding fuel prices is its always something point 9.
Just be honest and use full pennies, we got rid of the half penny years ago .

Its the same in Thailand, but there it is always something point 99 or something point 04 etc etc.
I have just got back from Thailand and diesel B10 mix was the cheapest fuel at 31.94 Thai Baht per litre, which is 72p. premium diesel is £1 a litre. When you take into account the minimum wage out there is 350 Baht for an 8 hour day (£7.85) it makes fuel quite expensive.

Just switched on BBC2 Gardeners World, someone wittering on about colour wheels and what colours you can plant next to one another, before that some geezer dancing , turned it off.
I can remember when it used to be a programme about gardening and plants, seems to be more about comedy these days .

Same for "Countryfile", which has changed beyond any recognition. I suspect that the target audience has been changed by the bebe to match its own interests, leaving real people to go hang.

First day of 20mph. Reality - most people - including me - driving around in 2nd gear with high revving engines - making plenty of noise - and belching pollutants out.

                  Still, Mark knows best....

Last week I was driving on a road on the outskirts of a town with no buildings, just grass either side, and it was a dual carriageway. It was quite straight and the few miles that I drove on it were 30mph

Another road we travelled on today is an A road and had a sign, one of the temporary red signs on an A board that said 30mph. The road was quite a winding one and the sign was just around the bend so people were doing 50-60mph before they were able to see it. Immediately past it was a sign Speed Limit For Safety Reasons and 100yds further on was another sign 'END'.

I think most road signs in this country need to be looked at, its a case of adding signs and regulations in a piecemeal fashion often with no consideration for those regulations that are there already or the actual rules of the road.

But people in Wales wont be looking at signs anymore will they, all eyes will be on speedo:biggrin:

I didn't go out yesterday but I tried driving at 20 mph on Saturday. It was all right through the middle of a town, and also where the road was windy and narrow, but there are several straight bits where the road is wide and no people around, and driving at 20 mph is not only too slow but difficult to do, especially when you come off a no-limit stretch of road and you go from doing about 45 mph (faster for some) to doing 20.

The place I went on Saturday ( a garden centre actually  ) is about 15 miles away and I saw that some of the roads had actually been left at 30, but not enough of them. I think that is down to the council.

Going through this village, if the main road was to be kept at 30, it would cost a lot to put 20 mph signs on every side street and lane going off it, so I think making it all 20 mph is cheaper for them.

I think the Senedd is going to keep reviewing the law and I hope they make amendments to it. The tories are dead against it, but only because it's the opposite to what Labour and Plaid want. I actually think it's a good idea but only in the right places.

Road signs round here are a complete nuisance. Our road is two miles long with no turnings in that two miles. They have closed the road eight times this year for a week each time - but they don't say where! So nobody knows which way to come if you are visiting one of the houses or delivering something. Four of those times no workmen turned up to do the work . Those works have varied from potholes (not done), water leaks (they've been trying to fix that problem for the last 50 years), UK Power Networks (overhead cables) and tree cutting.

As locals we have got used to arriving at the barriers, moving them aside to drive through and then putting them back. The postman does the same.

Yesterday there was a Road Closed sign at the end of our road and we didn't know where it was closed as we were coming home from a week away. So we ignored it and got home with no road works. I went out later to check to the other end of the road but no works and no other signs! :wallbanging:

Quite often we have road closed signs around here. Often the road isn't actually closed the workers just trying to discourage traffic. More often than not there are no workers or anything happening. It's mostly because two separate groups are involved, one to put up the signs or traffic lights the other to come and dig up the road. They don't seem capable of synchronising.

We have road closed signs everywhere around here.
You have to ignore them otherwise you wouldn't go anywhere, ofcourse that means sometimes you get caught out.

Just listening to a Welsh minister defending the new 20mph scheme.
He turned out to be the Minister for climate change, cant work out why nobody asked him about all the extra emissions that are now going to take place due to people driving in low gear.
They certainly let him off easy.
