Itsy Bitsy caterpillars 2023

Has anybody had trouble with itsy-bitsy caterpillars during 2023? There is some kind of moth, I think, that attacks Geraniums & Pelargoniums. It lays its tiny eggs somewhere on the leaves & the caterpillars then eat the leaves before sticking a couple of leaves together & rolling them tight. I'm always on the look out for leaves like these & pick them off. The Pelargoniums have suffered more this year than in previous years.

But this year I've found them on the tips of the early spring rose I have growing on the balcony railings. I try to unroll the leaves when I find them but this is the first year I've had this problem.

Something similar is attacking my Carnation seedlings. I find the tips of the leaves stuck together & I have taken a photo.

Thanks for the reply. I've grown Carnations on the balcony many times before as they are a favourite flower of my wife's but I've never seen the moth on the balcony but as it is nocturnal that's no surprise! It's very rare for me to go out onto the balcony after dark - there's little to see!
