    The Hudson River in the foothills of the Adirondack mountains where it is a trout stream.

      I have seen these in the woods all my life and thought they were fungi. Yesterday I asked the experts at the New York State Conservation Department what the plant was called. Their reply amazed me:

      "Great shot! The reason you were not able to find these in a mushroom guide is because these are actually not fungi, but woodland plants called ghost pipe, Monotropa uniflora, which lack chlorophyll. Very unique plants!"

      And, I find they are edible in small quantities, and can be used for medicinal purposes. Live and learn.

                              Two of our brood went to Canterbury Uni, which we took advantage of and did some exploring of Kent during the 6 years ! :)

                                Lots of things happening in Folkestone, some good some not so good.
                                I drove along the front under the Lees where there used to be a big carpark and a nice seafront gardens, with a slightly exotic look.
                                Gardens are still there but the carpark has gone, they have built a massive couple of blocks on flats on it, totally spoilt the place in my view.
                                So now they have a seafront park with very little carparking, wonderful I dont think.:mad:
