Maybe my memory has gone but I remember it getting dark around 4pm or before. And remember it is probably mostly sun in the daytime hours, over 3,000 a year ... so not a place for you Michael!

Quite often succulents and cacti don't grow mid summer in there natural habitat.
They obviously grow during the wet seasons and go dormant mid summer, there are a few exceptions though, the S African plants grow winter or summer depending on what side of the Cape they come from.
I also think a lot of Canary islands plants are winter growers naturally but lots do change when grown in our conditions.

Around the shortest day it seems to get dark between 4.30 and 5 p.m. When I was wroking I was always home by 4.30 and it was never dark when I arrived, although it was dusk.

No I couldn't cope with all that sunshine :heehee:

Being further east it's always dark by 4pm on the shortest day here.
I used to leave work at 4pm and drive home in the dark.
Always noticed a difference by the new year.

Very strange. I got notification of a refund on the Aeonium Kiwi from Malta yesterday then this morning notification it has been shipped along with the Sedum rupestre syn reflexum cutting. Be interesting to see how long it takes as Malta was 10 days last time. I have decided against seed.
