Breakfast. Last of the Dwarf Wild Freds.

 

By gum - they look so... juicy- I'm on a Keto diet and these will go nicely with my bacon

 

They were really good. Slightly overripe so perfect for frying.

 

My Marmande tomato plants are still here and looking good. I've pinched the tiny ones off but left these one as it just seemed a shame to kill them off
I know I should be thinking that enough is enough and take them out of their pots... but I have read we might be having a hot few weeks ahead of us, so I will be feeding & watering them just in case the weather changes for the better.

Still green but hoping!

 

I only grew Marmande, Shirley & Crimson Crush this year. The only one I found tasted like a proper Tomato was Crimson Crush.

 

I only grew 2 types: Super Marmande and BeefSteak F!, between the two i thought the Super Marmande had more taste and the Beefsteak was more fleshy with hardly any juice - which made it ideal for cooking.

 

All seed send-outs bar one now posted.

My tomatoes still have lots of fruit except for two which I removed from the same growbag this morning. That will give the 3rd plant a greater amount of space + nutrients! I picked off (& ate!) one this morning but there will be plenty more to come during the next couple of weeks until the weather stops the remaining fruit from ripening. With a bit of luck the plants may survive all of October before I have to remove them.

 

Pulled out all of plants today. Picked just around a kilo of green tomatoes. Season closed.
When you pull your plants out, do you have a large roots ball? Most of mine had not that many roots...
