Missed this Upsy. Pleased you had a good day.
How sad about the ponies. Are there so many careless, thoughtless drivers there!

Wishing you a painless recovery. Why was the other leg numb? It doesn't look like you! Take care.

Other leg was numb because the injection numbs every thing below the waist.

            No worries.Vicky.

It's usually down to fast driving late evening by ( and I hate to say this but.. ) younger people or tourists not doing their research and not grasping the fact that the animals including donkeys and cattle as well as the iconic ponies are freely roaming around at all hours of the day and night. So sad to see bodies with those awareness stickers on them.

We had a group of young drivers cut in front of our bus recently ..and then throw cans and bottles at the bus window. The driver said that the whole incident was captured on the cameras. They were obviously under the influence of something, we feared for any poor animals that may have unintentionally blocked their way on their journey through the rest of the N. F.

That is upsetting to see in picture let alone in reality! I loved our drives through the New Forest. There are times when I totally dislike certain humans.

In other news, I took a week off from work jut to enjoy the last days of summer.

Today we headed down to Jesmond dene, walked all the way through to the Pet's corner, stayed for quite a while with a lonely looking parrot who said "Hello" many times and followed us around inside his cage. We had long discussions and showed reciprocal empathy.

                        parrot.jpg

When we finally had to leave, he said "Bye Bye" in a very touching way.

The Pheasant enclosure's feeding table had four obviously gate crashed rats and a mouse. Very cute!

Then we left Jesmond dene and just walked on and on, or rather, up and down thanks to the topography of the region, plopping out on Quayside.

The fabulous Millennium Bridge was raised to allow a small sailing boat to pass, it looked quite impressive. If I were 7 I would surely have creeped on to the raising part in spite of the bridgekeepers' announcements to clear the bridge.

Being North East, they were funny and just a tad inappropriate with their announcements

The walking bridge raises up nearly 90 degrees, looks spectacular :)

                        bridge1.jpg

Then it was up and up to the city centre and a nice, well deserved meal and wine.

Four hours walk is fine, but four hours mostly steep uphill and downhill might tell me tomorrow that I'm no loner 35. ;) Already the internal porridge pouches underneath my skin are showing signs of life in rather unexpected regions.

Tomorrow (if we can get up that is) it's Tynemouth Aquarium we last visited over 10 years ago.

Had to go on a 'speed awareness course' - I got caught in a speed trap doing 36 in a 30 mph area.

Cost £90, but will not get points on licence or need to declare to insurance unless asked.
The course is mostly sitting and listening, no test -- was asked to make notes for my own benefit.
                            About 2.5 hours
First offence since I started driving 60 years ago.
