What's looking Exotic in 2023

Paphos, Cyprus. Delonix, Jacaranda, Pyrostegia and Erythrina, there were mature Plumerias but only seen from a bus.

 

How lovely. We can have a second bloom of Jacarandas here in October although ours never have.

 

The hedge is Tecoma not Pyrostegia, oops!

 

It wasn't close up enough for me to tell. Is it the Tecoma stans oor Tecomaria capensis?

 

I think it would be capensis, wouldn't it, isn't stans mostly yellow flowering.
As you know I'm growing T stans from seed this year and one plant is showing what I think is flower buds.

So I've done some reading up on the two types.

 

Yes, Tecoma stans is more commonly yellow but there is an orange one.

Look forward to seeing your Tecoma bloom ... mine is starting to back off now, always does just as the Tecomaria starts.

 

I'm reading that there are two different strains of T stans, one from the Caribbean and one from southern US, I'm hoping I have the US strain as that is said to be hardier.
T. capensis is obviously S.African.

As I understand it the name Tecomaria had been dropped and the plant was considered to be close enough to be classed as Tecoma capensis.

There was a Tecoma Stans at the hotel and I did bring some seeds back as there were loads of seed pods. I won't sow them until next March.
i did bring back a couple of bougie and some dwarf Oleander cuttings back but I don't hold out much hope of keeping them over winter if they root as it is almost too late.
