      Morning Upsy

Gosh, I need to lose another 10! Not being as active as I would like to be, I have too much around the middle. J gets a appetite when not well. I lose mine.

Off to cycle then we will do the tests.

          Good day
It is 61f and not going to get much warmer. We got a light rain last night which was much needed. :)

@Michael Hewett I hope you have a custard slice. Yum.

@Victoria I normally never lose a pound when ill. I too was carrying a bit more around the middle than I like. Some remains but that is my trophy of surviving menopause! I'm just over one "stone" less in weight than I was when I visited Shineyland in 2018. A long slow drop. I did read that losing more than 5% of your bodyweight after age 70 is not good and instead, maintaining your weight will help you live longer. But then again, it might be like those on and off again studies that tell you coffee is no good and then the reverse a few months later. I've decided to just maintain what I have now.

@Upsydaisy I cannot imagine getting headaches regularly. I felt very disjointed, mentally, when I was sick and it took me forever to realize it was a headache and take an aspirin! That was the first one I had had in many many years.

          @redstar and @Flumpy and @john558 TGIF!

It is a pd (professional development) day for our local schools so Em is home today. After I let her sleep in, I'll take her to the fabric shop to get some prints that will be fun to sew up.

          Cheers :coffee:

Friday, 8:45AM here. Woke to a autumn sky, meaning, overcast with a soft orange glow of the sun trying to get through. Suppose to rain later today.
I did gather up all the fallen leaves from the front and back property to the burn pile along with all the branches /twigs/ limbs etc, set it all a flame, its a quick up in flames then down to a slow simmer. Checked just now, no embers left, just white ash. I would say the burn pile is ruffly 8foot by 8 foot.
So for now, lawn areas looks nice. But in a day or so, more leaves will be down.

@Upsydaisy , not sure what they sell over there, but Oticon Hearing aids are the best. My husband is an Audiologist, we had 12 offices, that was his top aide he sold, best results, most happy people. Also if the person has lost or gained weight the fitting will not work well, you could hear a squeal noise, they should be refitted. We started the business together about 37 years ago, and I helped him with marketing issues. But, yes, I had my own career. Anyway, just FYI, about the Oticon. People don't know that with the proper hearing test you can narrow it down to find the right aid for the person, and with the new technology, can be hooked up on the computer to fine tune the aid.

Our guest left today from our Airbnb, another one is due in later today. She seemed to be able to walk out ok to leave yesterday. But their truck left really bad oil stains in the driveway, the cleaners are working on cleaning it up using a certain solvant, it will be charged to that guest as damaging property. Life goes on.

            Have a good day all.

I had a jacket potato with melted cheese, and then a slice of chocolate gateaux filled with cream, and cream on the top with slices of mandarines, and they poured fresh cream all over it too. And I must say it was a thick slice, not like the narrow slithers you generally get in most places. It was an absolute dish-full, took ages to get through it !

The lady who owns the cafe makes all the deserts herself and you don't know what's going to be there on any day, she makes such a variety of things.
All that and a milky coffee came to £9. and a few pence, quite reasonable actually for these days.

This is eerie. I just had a long convoluted and then heated discussion with the audiologist's office and also the support at Oticon. A friend of mine was told that he would have to update his I phone in order to control his new (third) set of Oticon hearing aids. He had to get a new phone the last time before this because he only gets the most basic cell he can get away with because he does not use his cell for anything else. Well, I told them it was elder abuse forcing people to spend thousands on new phones outright or having to sign up for a $50 monthly plan for umpteen months! His set that he had years ago had a fob he could carry in his pocket on or on lanyard to control the devices and that was excellent. The audiologist said they don't sell those anymore. Both the audio and the support at Oticon kept pushing the expensive Iphone and they said an android phone wouldn't work with their programming without a lot of difficulty and then only partially.

The audiologist had taken his old phone, dumped the app that worked with his old hearing aids and said now that app is no longer available - so now he cannot even use his old (4 yrs) pair as backup with his old phone. And why??? No answer.

So I threatened to broadcast about abusing seniors who are not savvy about computers/apps and bilking them out of a lot of money in the process.

The last I heard, they are sending him a Contact Clipp which is- yup, a hand held controller for the aids. And free of charge.

I have told this fellow to find another manufacturer's rep for his next pair and insist that it must be a pair he can control with a fob. Or, take me with him and I'll make sure he doesn't get rooked by this bafflegab again!

In my opinion, Oticon are bunch of g d gyp artists. I sure as heck won't get those when I am in need!

                  Sounds awful Lori :yikes:!!

Hubs hearing aids are absolutely fine, nothing wrong with them.....it's him , he just can't abide wearing them!!:thud::wallbanging:

So we won't be looking for different ones...these do the job perfectly. He goes to the hospital for his hearing checks .:dbgrtmb:

                    Good morning everyone.

How very strange Vicky....Have you checked the dates on the kits?? Never heard of such varying results. Surely you either have it or don't. :noidea:

Lori I wouldn't wish my 'heads' on my worse enemy. I suffer from migraines anyway but about 14 years ago my orthopaedic consultant discovered that I also have a few bone spurs growing out at the top of my neck too. The combination of a migraine and the spurs is not a match made in heaven that's for sure .

Michael your day yesterday sounded very .. well......yummy!!:roflol:
What generous portions and a great price, now that is what I call a good combination !!:dbgrtmb:.

I'm pleased to say I found a lovely little flower/ plant shop yesterday and they sold bundles of bare rooted Wallflowers for £3

redstar thanks for the info....but we prefer it that he sticks with being under the care of the hospital. :blue thumb:

Morning to flumpy and John ( 558) too.

We had a great day out yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed. ourselves. The write up on it is on my ' On a day like this.....' thread.

This morning we're walking over to one of our GP surgeries to have out flu jabs, we will now be ready and waiting for whatever the coming Winter has in store for us!!:fingers crossed:

Have a super relaxing Saturday everyone.

I'm glad you found some wallflowers @Upsydaisy I was going to ask in the garden centre yesterday but forgot. I go regularly to Carmarthen though so I'll ask next time. I'll have to write it down :heehee:
... although it's just a branch of a bigger nursery situated near Cardigan, and they take all the plants to Carmarthen from there, so I'm not hoping for too much.
I got some nice loose bulbs.

Hope you're feeling better today @Victoria

                        Morning all.

Didn't fall asleep till 2.30ish due to "claggimess" so will take a Bisolvon shortly. other than that, all okay. J has sniffles. Test dates 2025. doors open all day, windows 24/7 and fan running so plenty of fresh air indoors plus sit out for several hours I don't understand it either.

                        Enjoy the weekend.

                          Morning Vicky.:)

How weird:dunno:, So long as you're both feeling OK ( ish) in yourselves that the most important thing. :grphg:

Good job I just checked online about our flu jabs ..... we have to go to the larger surgery ,the 4 mile hike one and not the 2 mile one!!
We're going by bus now and then going on to Southampton for some lunch.
So glad I checked...strange how you get that sudden feeling to re - check on things only to find things weren't as you had initially thought.

Look after yourself m'dear......and Get Well soon!!xxx

                            Good day
It is 53f and I don't know if it is cloudy or not. I've got a load in the clothes washer and when it is done the sunrise will be happening and I'll see if I can use the clothes lines or not.

I'm feeling that there is not much to do because I haven't yet looked at my to do list. :heehee: I think I'll do some baking and I might make some ice cream too.

@Victoria that is strange to test positive on and off. As @Upsydaisy says, at least you're up and around.

@Michael Hewett that sounds like a lovely lunch. I wish I'd seen more places when I was over there but I couldn't stuff much more sight seeing in my days there than I had managed.

Well, on to my day of puttering.

                            Cheers :coffee:

Saturday morning. Almost Noon here. Raining. Had a cleaning bug, so onward.

@CanadianLori , in all the years my husband took care of his clients, with selling any hearing aid from any company, I never heard him say, "his client has to get a new phone" so what that audiologist is doing who knows. As with any service there can be people that take advantage of folks mixed in with the good ones. And there are "audiologist" out there and there are "Hearing aide dealers", the later one's are usually out to just sell, sell sell. My husband many times would test someone and say, "you only need one aide, not two". He would even try to find what they call "refurbished" ones, to sell to someone at a lower cost so they could hear. Yes, they knew they were "refurbished". Even regular doctors will prescribe medications to people that should not simply to make money with the Pharm company. I myself had to tell my prior doctor He did not know what he was doing when He prescribed something wrong for me. And don't get me started on insurance companies. I would spend hours calling insurance companies just to get one more day stay at a hospital for a patient. They have now this schedule in hospitals called Pathways, which is totally insurance driven, allots you just so many days stay given a diagnosis, never taking into an account the age of the person. And I was on that committee to design that. So glad I am done with it all. But, its frustrating to know what could be ahead of me and husband as we age and the arguments I will have to fight to get proper care for us.

Raining out, so onward to house stuff. Have an awesome day all.

Morning all. Where is Upsy this morning?

well, there seems to have been a mis-communication between J and myself1 :rolleyespink: Apparently I have been Positive since last Friday (not this past one). He "thought" there was not a line (may have had the wrong glasses on) but it was feint which to me meant Positive not Negative. Any old how, we will test again tomorrow. I feel fine just very tired all the time and J has sniffles still.

                                Just a quiet Sunday here.
