Monday morning. New week ahead. 9AM here. 48 degrees.
Yesterday boxed up all the gazebo cushions for the winter, so stacks of boxes sit inside the gazebo. If I don't the mice will come in and chew on them, trying to keep warm . With only one older cat now, she is 19, she can only do so much. We used to have several cats about, some really good hunters. Although we do have my neighbors cat visits some, she likes to hunt.

Over in this house, we eat little beef, more pork, chicken, and fish (frozen) if I find wild caught fresh salmon that is awesome. We also have the Amish here, so markets are full of fresh veggies and fruits. And Amish have freezers with their own packaged meats. Its not unusual for me to saute up some spinach for breakfast and roll it into a omelet with homemade bread toast. I cook a variety of things. Some evenings we just have an all veggie dinner. And lucky I am to be 20 mins from the mushroom capital of the world. Recently I discovered making Kale Fritters, yummy, and I use rice flour instead of regular. I make homemade soup often, with home made stock. And yes, some good pasta with gravy can be had now and then with Turkey meatballs. One thing we both are not big on is desserts, so sometime just a few pieces of chocolate can take care of a sweet craving. So maybe all that could be a reason we both don't catch colds/viruses.

Anyway, glad to hear some negative results to the virus. On to whatever about to get into.
      Have a grand day all.

        Good morning redstar.

We too eat a lot of Spinach...love it. We make all our own soup too with homemade stock....that's one thing I can do quite well.

No desserts here either apart from maybe some ice cream with fresh home grown fruit during any hot spells in Summer.

Hubs use to bake all our bread too but now it's not worth it for the small amount that we eat.

We don't get colds/ bugs as such....but as we have now decided to try and do by our bit in cutting carbon emissions by using public transport ..or just walking then I've probably jinxed things now and we will catch everything that's on offer!!:heehee:

I don't like taking unnecessary meds/ tablets and am not on any prescribed medication....something my Dentist finds quite amazing as most folk of my age seem to be on at least one lot. I do take Vit.D3 but only between the end of October until April. My Dr said ,and it's also widely stated , that there is really no need for it to be taken throughout the whole year, if you have a healthy and nutritious diet and get outside for at least 10- 15 mins a day then your body gets it's required dose naturally.
During the Winter you might reap some benefits from supplements due to the reduction of daylight hours.

So all in all I think we are pretty healthy and despite my aches and pains in my feet ( now mainly due to the fusions I had to have done) and a weakened knee I think I remain pretty mobile in one way or another every day. :dbgrtmb:

Yes, @Upsydaisy , I also question daily Vit D 3, especially in the summer as I am out in the garden a lot, and of course this year out at lots of fairgrounds with the car. I will myself just stop it for a week here and there. They also say Redheads make their own Vit D.

Bread making I am the one that makes bread, but my skinny husband will rarely eat it. So I have to not bake it unless I am planning to give most away. Or I will just eat it all.
Since you like Spinach, you know that Greek dish, starts with an S, I converted it to a quiche, Spinach, feta cheese , eggs, cream, pour into a pie shell. But for the most part love Spinach lightly cooked. Usually for the holidays I get my baking needs satisfied, as I give away cookies to everyone. No one about really wants "things" anymore.
          Ok, later.

Yes, I have made Spanakopita with the phlo leaves a couple times. Which gave me the idea to convert it to a quiche.
Off to bed now. 10PM here, just finished a movie.

Good morning to each and everyone, how are you all today?

Vicky I'm so pleased that you are both testing negative now, I bet you're relieved.

I didn't get the chance to get out into the garden yesterday but hopefully after attending an appointment this morning I hope to maybe get an hour or two this afternoon.

              Have a fab day .

                Morning all.

A fresher morning today with just 18c and we may get some rain around the weekend. It has been months and months so hope so. A very long hot Summer here.

Yes, relief here. I must admit that J just seemed to have a permanent cold and me the sore throat/coughing for a few days.I have avoided colds all my life and only had the flu twice, more than 25 years ago. I didn't know that about redheads ... I was gingerish when small then strawberry blonde, and of course have freckles!

My plants didn't come yesterday so I hope today.

Todo dedos cruzado para este manha Upsy. :fingers crossed:

I was also quite ginger when I was young but I never had freckles. I don't have fair skin and after being in the sun I don't burn but I turn brown. In fact people often ask me in the winter where have I been to have that colour ... but I haven't been anywhere, it's just how I am.

My mother and grandfather had the same skin but dark hair, and they never went grey. And my brother is the same as them. I don't know where my ginger hair came from.

                      Good day
It is 45f with total cloud cover. I guess I'd better harvest the last of the peppers soon and get on with clearing out the remains of the vegetable garden.

I'm glad to hear there is no covid or other illness here. And reading your posts makes me feel super lucky because I don't take any vitamins. Since I dumped the anti acid reflux pill, even my sodium level is normal. I seem to suck all the nutrients/electrolytes I need out of my diet. And my blood pressure has stayed normal (105/68) for the last few weeks. Such a relief :)

Today I will start my day by cleaning the three loos in my house and then get on to the fun stuff. I find if I force myself to get the chores I least like done first, I feel a bigger sense of accomplishment. Yes, whodathunk clean loos would give me some jollies!

I've to out my food preservation "bible" to figure out what to do for Christmas gifts or just for my pantry. It's always fun canning things. And I'll pull out my recipe for Apple crumble too. I have apples to use up.

                      On to the loos.

                      Cheers :coffee:

The genetics of being a "real redhead" is awesome. You need both parents that carry the gene to make a red head, that does not mean both of them have red hair but that they just carry the gene. My moms hair was brunette, my dad was a redhead, so my mother carried the gene. My hair color in younger years was the color of a copper crayon. I was told I would never turn gray, and its true at best now I am a honey blond/or ginger blond naturally. I do freckle, and love it. I have blue eyes. Its my understanding that certain redheads will freckle on their forearm and others will not, and that is a different type of red head, ones that freckle on the forearms are all related way back when. I do tan a little now, seemed I did not when younger. The other thing with a "real redhead" is the anesthesia thing, we have a gene that no other hair color has which affects the amount of anesthesia we receive. And needless to say redheads are a rare species.

                          Morning all, Tuesday.
Rained overnight. Just house stuff. Chess Club meeting today later. Maybe some shopping about a little. Thinking of making meatloaf for dinner with mashed potatoes and some sort of veggies.
                          Have a grand day all.

We had meatloaf and mash on Sunday. We get a beef/pork blend from Aldi.

I have used that blend before. I am now playing with some ground brisket, ground chuck and ground pork.
