But they seem to be playing to the audience and not bothering to try and solve the problems. :noidea:

Because they have to these days, one word out of place and the whole media comes down on them like a ton of bricks, and its so so easily to offend people these days.

Definitely. That's why I said they are playing to the media, of all types, because the media (social or unsocial) are not interested in policies but just in their own opinion - but that's just my opinion. :rolleyespink:

I was amused to read about the stats on car theft here. Seems thousands are stolen and that number is rising, then the thieves container ship them overseas. Mostly to their "homelands" because they already have contacts there.

That is thousands of ICE's and no electric ones. :roflol:

This has been going on for years. Top of the range cars are stolen from many countries with some stolen to order. Top of the range cars that are stolen from the UK end up in countries that are the same as the UK, a right hand side drive car country but have huge import duty rates. Thailand is a right hand car drive country, just like the UK but to buy an imported European car, there is a duty rate of 150 to 300%. For gangs the UK market is ideal for the Thai market, huge duty rates where they drive on the same side of the road.

Off topic, but as been a smoker in the past I have always brought back more tobacco than my allowance, the saving is worth the gamble and I have never been stopped. Even though I have quit I brought back 40 x 50g pouches of tobacco which I paid £153 in Abu Dhabi on the 12th Sept, I have already sold them for £800. So I am not surprised the theft of cars for export is on the increase, when you ban items or have huge duty rates, the black market thrives.

So why didn't you bung in details for an EV that has a similar spec and price as the car you have now?

I'm not sure about the deprecating rhetoric :nonofinger: but whilst it is cheaper to run my car without having to pay extortionate prices I shall continue to do so.

I'm expecting to have at least another 10 years with this car :blue thumb: and could possibly find my next vehicle may end up being a supercharged wheelchair.

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and he is livid about the car insurance on his EV. He has a Land Rover SUV Sport and has just received his insurance renewal notice.

This previous year he paid £720 and his renewal notice has gone up to £5,800 :yikes:

He has started shopping around and the news is not good. So far, two insurers have said they no longer insure EVs and three other quotes have been between £3,900 and £7,000.

I hope my insurance won't be going up that much for my ICE :fingers crossed:

This was on the news recently too, if those are the costs to insure then EV is dead in the water

It appears that a fire closing Luton airport maybe due to an electric car catching fire in the car park. I haven't seen anything that would convince me to buy one even if I could afford it.

My first thought was EV ...then heard the news it was a diesel ....I'm still not convinced but then again I am a cynic.

We all drive around in potential bombs, be that ICE or EV, but that carpark looks dodgy to me.
Going back a long way I was taught that steelwork had to be encased because it just bends when it gets hot.
That place looks like just steel girders in the pictures.
