Somehow I don't see Starmer as a leader, I think he's more of a figure head, those behind him are doing the pushing and have ambition, and I just wonder how long before he gets ousted regardless of the outcome of a general election.

All he had to do was keep quiet but he's gone and promised to deliver on his promises (honest guv) when no-one trusts a politician then gone on to say he's going to build build build and screw the locals!

"Obviously we want to work with local communities," Sir Keir said, but added "we need to ensure planning goes up a level, so it is not localised".

As they were saying today, it only goes as far as his MPs, they wont want building in their constituencies anymore than than tory ones do, so he wont get far with that one.

It just seems dumb to make a housing promise after decades of failed delivery after equally bold (stupid) promises. The locals just won't let it go at speed. So that's two promises broken before he's started.
Maybe 3. He also promised to overhaul the NHS. Where have I heard this all before...

I've been again trying to get interested in the Rugby.
But the rules are totally crazy and the worst person on the field always seems to be the ref, they take the game back about 5 minutes with their advantage play.

I dont think I will ever understand it.
Can never work out why they have penalties, and then the first thing they do is kick it out of play, its just a crazy game that doesn't flow.

I don't know why the Welsh are so mad about rugby. They're passionate about it, and in school that's all there was, no other sport seemed to exist.
And what was daft, they didn't teach you the rules, they just made you wear tee shirts and shorts, take you to the playing field on a frosty afternoon in winter, and make you stand on the touch line, freezing, while the 'chosen few' threw a stupid shape ball at each other and rolled about in the mud.

I used to mitch on those days. My grandmother lived a mile from the school and I would sneak out at lunch time, and spend the afternoon with her
She loved plants, like me. It missed a generation with my father.

The way they taught sport in schools in those days was pretty awful.

There was no sport, only rugby, and I don't know how they can call rolling about in the mud with a daft shaped ball a sport.
In the summer time we had athletics. I was good at the pole vault  but I still mitched on most 'sport' afternoons.

I was forced to play Rubgy at school, I never enjoyed it but had no choice. When I went to university I could choose for myself and played football and cricket, I wasn't very good at either but at least had fun.
